The University of Utah gymnastics team averaged 9,921 fans per home meet in 2002 to win its 19th national gymnastics attendance title in the last 21 years. The crowd of 14,285 that attended the Utah-BYU meet in Salt Lake City on March 23 was the best in the nation this year, and the 10,596 in attendance for Utah's meet with Minnesota on Jan. 25 ranked third.
Utah's 9,921 average beat out Georgia (9,510) and Alabama (8,124) for top honors this year. The annual average attendance for Utah home gymnastics meets over the last 10 years is 10,302-more than any other gymnastics team has averaged in a single season.
