This time, Utah goes to Minnesota, Utah State, Arizona and Oregon State before returning home for a meet with Michigan on Feb. 28.

Veronique Leclerc scored a season-best 39.425 in the all-around. Freshman

Annabeth Eberle on the floor and it was also her first-ever perfect score.
UTE NOTES
Utah could start getting some injured athletes back as soon as this week. Senior All-American and three-time NCAA champion
Theresa Kulikowski has been cleared to resume training on bars and beam, and depending on her progress, could be available in a limited capacity for the Minnesota meet. Senior All-American
Kim Allan's Achilles that she tore in 2001 is still sore, so she is questionable to compete on anything but bars for a second straight meet ... The last time Utah lost two home dual meets in a season was back in 1976 ... Utah is averaging 10,154 spectators per meet in three home meets ...
Melissa Vituj is Utah's top ranked individual performer. Vituj is ranked fourth in the all-around (39.608), second on floor (9.958) and fourth on beam (9.942). Allan is ranked ninth on bars (9.883).
SERIES SHORTS
Utah leads the series with Minnesota 19-1 ... Minnesota's only victory came in a quadrangular meet at Arizona State in 2000 ... Utah is 6-0 vs. the Gophers in Minneapolis and 15-1 in regular season competitions.
UTAH COACH GREG MARSDEN
Greg Marsden, the most successful coach in collegiate gymnastics history, is in his 28th year at the U. He is college gymnastics' only 700 win coach (765-121-5). In regular season competition, Marsden is 379-53-2. He has spent his entire career at Utah and has won 10 national championships, double that of any other coach. Four of those titles came in the '90s (1990, '92, '94, '95). Fifteen of his teams have placed in the top-three at the national championships, most recently in 2000 (second). Marsden is a seven-time National Coach of the Year recipient.
GOPHER UPDATE
Placed ninth at the 2002 NCAA Championships ... currently 2-3 ... ranked No. 25 with a season average of 193.608 ... nearly two points better at home (195.525 in only home meet to date) ... 2002 floor exercise All-American Annie Laatsch is UM's only all-arounder (39.10 best) ... co-head coaches are Jim and Meg Stephenson ... Jim is 147-124-1 in his 11th year as head coach and Meg is 75-51-1 in her sixth season as co-head coach.
MARSDEN SAYS
"This will be an important meet for us. As is the case most of the time, the NCAA Championships are not in your home arena, so it's important that you get comfortable dealing with other environments and the situations that arise. On the one hand, it's difficult to be on the road for so long. On the other hand, if we can use it in the right way, we can be much stronger at the end of the season. Travel can be a great team bonding experience.
"In general, the big things are going well. Where we need to begin to improve are areas like steps on landings and small execution errors.
"It's always fun to go to Minnesota. The gymnasts love shopping at the mega mall and (associate head coach) Megan and I enjoy our relationship with Jim and Meg Stephenson. Minnesota runs a good meet and it nearly always goes down to the last event."
