SALT LAKE CITY -
The University of Utah's top gymnast will miss this Friday's meet against No. 1 ranked UCLA after aggravating what was initially believed to be a rib injury. Theresa Kulikowski, a senior 12-time All-American and three-time NCAA Champion, will have an MRI this afternoon to determine the cause of her pain.
Treated for a dislocated rib on Monday, Kulikowski re-injured herself during a bar routine in Tuesday's practice.
She becomes the third Ute sidelined with an injury before the season opener. Freshmen Dominique D'Oliveira and Crystal Gilmore, who were both expected to contribute on several events, are also out. D'Oliveira broke her ankle over the holiday break and Gilmore has a back injury.
Expected to replace Kulikowski are freshmen Natalie Nicoloff and sophomore Gritt Hofmann.
