Utah bar notes: Kristen Riffanacht opens with a nice routine, although she had a little problem on her landing. It looked like one of her knees buckled a bit and caused her to take a small step. Annabeth Eberle was superb except for a weird problem when she stood on the low bar for her final move to the high bar. One foot slipped and she had to catch her balance quickly. Veronique Leclerc tested out her brand new routine and missed her first big release move. Melissa Vituj also ran into a problem on her stoop on the low bar and had to swing back under the bar before heading to the top bar for her dismount. Kim Allan got throughher routine nicely before stepping out of another big double layout dismount. Theresa Kulikowski was her usual flawless self on the bars and had just a tiny, tiny step on the dismount. In her first collegiate routine, Dominique D'Oliveira looked great and stuck her dismount. Crystal Gilmore, also in exhibition, also got through her routine without a problem.
BEAM BEAMJamie Duce 9.800 Kylee Wagner 9.775Stevie Fanning 8.650 Kim Allan 9.300Sheehan Lemley 9.725 Gritt Hofmann 9.825Kristine Harper 9.100 Annabeth Eberle 9.900Katie Johnson 9.275 Theresa Kulikowski 9.925Monica Bisordi 9.925 Melissa Vituj 9.950BB: 47.825; Running: 145.075 BB: 49.375; Running: 196.900 ex Gabriella Onodi 9.750
Utah beam notes: Kylee Wagner did a nice job of recovering from some little balance problems that I thought might throw off her flight series, which is near the end of her routine. Instead, she got stronger as the routine went on and hit it fine. Kim Allan couldn't stay on after her round-off layout to two feet. Too bad, because she looked good otherwise. Gritt Hofmann battled through some little problems, including a balance check on her side sumi (spelling?, but she kept her record perfect. Annabeth Eberle was simply sensational tonight. Her beam routine was an absolute beauty. Theresa Kulikowski was headed for a 10.0 until it appeared like she lost concentration near the end. I know Kulio never loses her concentration, but she teetered forward while doing nothing. Shannon, if you're watching, you would relate! Melissa Vituj was almost perfect to end things on a good note for the "counters." Gabriella Onodi appeared to do a great routine as exhibition, but I didn't get to see all of it. Crystal Gilmore fell in exhibition.
FLOOR FLOORStevie Fanning 9.800 Natalie Nicoloff 9.725Jessamyn Salter 9.875 Kylee Wagner 9.675Kristine Harper 9.825 Veronique Leclerc 9.825Jamie Duce 9.875 Kristen Riffanacht 9.825Katie Johnson 9.925 Annabeth Eberle 9.950Monica Bisordi 9.925 Melissa Vituj 9.925FX: 49.425; Running: 194.500 FX: 49.250; Running: 147.525
Utah floor notes: I think Natalie Nicoloff hit her routine but she either left something out of the second pass or got ahead of her music. I know she complained that her music was too slow in warmups. Kylee Wagner had probably her best piked double back this year but she did run out of her second pass. Veronique Leclerc had one of her better routines. Kristen Riffanacht absoulutely NAILED her pike double back and her double back. She lost a little steam at the very end of the routine and really got penalized I thought. OK, Annabeth Eberle's routine was just amazing. Power, control, beautiful dance. Hard to beat that one. Melissa Vituj seemed to feed off AB's routine and gained some new fans in Arizona in the process.
