SALT LAKE CITY -
Ute All-America junior Annabeth Eberle was named the National College Gymnast of the Week by Inside Gymnastics in its latest edition. Eberle received the award after leading No. 1 Utah to a 196.900-194.325 victory over then No. 3 Nebraska on Jan. 16. She won or tied for three individual events and captured the all-around against the Huskers with a 39.625, which is tied for the ninth-best all-around score ever at Utah.
Eberle, who has five total wins in two meets this season, also won vault for the second straight week with a 9.90 and tied for first on beam (9.90) and floor (9.925). The previous week, Eberle spearheaded Utah's upset of defending NCAA champion UCLA in Los Angeles with a winning 10.0 vault-her first perfect score on the apparatus on which she won first-team All-America honors last year. Eberle was also a first-team All-American in the all-around at the 2003 NCAA Championships, tying for fourth.
