The Runnin' Utes close out their pre-Christmas schedule against Cal Poly on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 7:05 p.m. (PST) in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Utah then opens a five-game homestand against Weber State on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 7:00 p.m.

Quickly On Utah
Utah (6-3) plays its second of back-to-back home games against Coppin State (2-7) on Monday at 7:05 p.m. (MST) in the Jon M. Huntsman Center (15,000). The game will be broadcast on Hot Ticket 700 (KALL-AM) and the Utah Sports Network. The Utes are 4-0 at home this season.

Utah has split its last four games. After taking off six days for final exams, the Utes defeated Northern Colorado 81-66 on Friday night in Salt Lake City.

Sophomore center/forward Andrew Bogut (7-0, 240) leads the Utes in scoring (17.6 ppg), rebounding (10.0 rpg), blocked shots (19) and field goal percentage (64.2). Bogut has six double-doubles this season. Senior guard Marc Jackson (6-1, 175) is second in scoring (12.7 ppg), hitting a team-best 63.3 percent of his three-point attempts (19-of-30) and 87.2 percent of his free throws. Junior forward/guard Richard Chaney (6-4, 195) is third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg). Sophomore forward Justin Hawkins (6-5, 220) is the fourth Ute averaging double figures in points (10.0 ppg) and is second in rebounding (4.1 rpg). Junior guard Tim Drisdom (6-3, 210) leads the Utes in assists (3.8 apg) and has a 2.43 assists to turnover ratio.

Scouting The Eagles
Coppin State is 2-7 overall and 1-6 on the road this season. The Eagles have lost their last two games, falling at West Virginia (71-44) on Dec. 11 and at Pittsburgh (73-42) on Saturday. Their wins are over North Carolina A&T (67-53) at home on Dec. 4 and at Morgan State (66-62) on Dec. 9. Coppin State, which competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, has an enrollment of 3,900 and is located in Baltimore, Md.

Junior guard/forward Nicholas King (6-7, 190) leads CSU in scoring (11.9 ppg), shooting 33.3 percent from three-point range, and averages 4.4 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Darryl Proctor (6-4, 230) is second in scoring (10.2 ppg) and leads the way in rebounding (7.0 rpg). Junior guard Raheem Scott (6-2, 215) is third in scoring (7.6 ppg) and leads the Eagles in assists (2.8 apg).

Head Coach Ron "Fang" Mitchell
Ron "Fang" Mitchell is in his 19th season at the head coach at Coppin State, where he has a 306-235 record. Mitchell has led CSU to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two NIT bids, six 20-win seasons over the past 13 years, 11 straight winning seasons and 12 consecutive non-losing seasons.

The six-time MEAC Coach of the Year directed teams to at least a share of nine of 10 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular-season titles during the `90s, equaling the most by any NCAA Division I program during that decade.

Boasting Of Bogut
Sophomore forward Andrew Bogut (7-0, 240) has been named to the 2004 John R. Wooden Preseason All-America Team and is a preseason candidate for the Naismith Award. Last season, Bogut was honored as the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, second team all-MWC, and second team All-District 13 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). He also made the CollegeInsider.com all-freshman team.

? Bogut has had double-doubles in six of the nine games this season to bring his career total to 20. He has scored in double figures all eight games. Bogut leads the Utes in scoring (17.6 ppg), rebounds (10.0 rpg), blocked shots (19), steals (11) and field goal percentage (64.2). He is also second in assists (2.8 apg), and is shooting 77.3 percent from the free throw line. He has led the Utes in scoring five times and in rebounding eight times this season.

? In the NCAA statistical rankings released on Dec. 14, Bogut was 30th in field goal percentage (61.9) and 19th in rebounds per game (9.9 rpg).

? Bogut had a career-high 24 points against Northern Colorado on Dec. 17, shooting 9-for-11 from the field and 6-for-6 at the free throw line. It was his third 20-point game this season and the sixth of his career. He also had 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double on the year and the 20th in his career.

Jackson Back In Action
Senior guard Marc Jackson (6-1, 175) has rejoined the team for his senior year after electing to take off the 2003-04 season. Through nine games this season, the Salt Lake City native has scored in double figures six times. He leads the Utes in three-point percentage (62.0), making 19-of-30 from beyond the arc. Jackson is second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg), field goal percentage (62.0) and free throw percentage (89.2).

? Jackson has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. He had 18 points--his second-highest scoring game this season--against Northern Colorado on Dec. 17. Jackson shot 5-for-6 from the field, 4-for-5 from three-point range and made all four free throws. He has scored in double figures in six of the nine games this year.

? In the last three games, Jackson had 10 assists and four turnovers. Jackson had a season-high five assists against No. 15 Arizona, marking the sixth time in his career he had at least five assists in a game.

They've Got The License To Shoot
In order to take a three-point shot, Utah players have to earn their license first. A Ute player earns his "License to Shoot" from the coaching staff by making 35 of 50 three-pointers from all over the floor during a drill that can be attempted once a day before the season. It must be completed five times. Utes who have earned their "License to Shoot" for 2004-05 are Andrew Bogut, Richard Chaney, Tim Drisdom, Casey Iverson, Justin Hawkins, Marc Jackson, Jonas Langvad and Bryant Markson.

? Utah is shooting 38.8 percent from three-point range this season. The Utes have shot 40 percent or better four times this year and at least 50 percent twice: a season-high 58.3 percent (7-of-12) against High Point and 50.0 percent (7-of-14) against Northern Colorado.

? The Utes have hit a season-best seven three-pointers on three occasions, including the last two games (Arizona and Northern Colorado).

? The leading three-point shooter on the team is Marc Jackson, who is hitting 63.3 percent (19-of-30) from beyond the arc. He is followed by Casey Iverson (40.0), Richard Chaney (36.8), Bryant Markson (35.3) and Andrew Bogut (33.3).

? The Utes' proficiency from three-point range has helped them shoot 52.5 percent from the field on the season. Utah ranked ninth in the NCAA in field goal percentage (52.0) as of Dec. 14. The U. has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in five games: Washington (50.0), Furman (53.7), Southern Utah (57.8), Montana-Western (65.0) and Northern Colorado (56.0).

Getting It Done At The Free Throw Line
The Utes have done an excellent job of getting to the free throw line and converting this season. Through nine games, Utah is shooting 76.0 percent from the charity stripe, leading the Mountain West Conference in that category. The U. ranked 21st in the NCAA in free throw percentage (76.2) as of Dec. 14.

? The Utes have made 146 free throws while their opponents have attempted just 132. Utah is 6-1 when it has more free throw attempts than its opponents this season.

? Five Utes are shooting over 70 percent from the line this season: Tim Drisdom (91.7), Marc Jackson (89.2), Richard Chaney (80.0), Andrew Bogut (77.3) and Justin Hawkins (71.0).

Getting Defensive
One of the trademarks of Utah basketball in recent years has been a stifling half-court defense. Since the 1989-90 season, Utah has finished in the top 30 in the nation 12 times in scoring defense, 10 times in rebound margin, eight times in field goal percentage defense and eight times in scoring margin.

? Utah has not allowed an opponent to score 80 points in 137 consecutive games that have ended in regulation. The last team to score 80 points on the Utes in a 40-minute game was Wyoming (88) on Feb. 28, 2000 in Laramie, Wyo.

? The Utes have outrebounded the opposition in six of the nine games this season, and had a push in one other game (vs. Stony Brook in the season opener), going 6-1 in those contests. The Utes have a +6.9 rebound margin per game this season. That continues a trend from last season when the Utes outrebounded 30 of 33 opponents.

? Utah has also allowed just two opponents to shoot better than 50 percent from the field this season: Washington (53.4 percent in a loss) and Utah State (65.0 percent in a loss).
