The Runnin' Utes take a break for final exams before hosting Northern Colorado on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7:05 p.m. (MST) in the Huntsman Center. Utah then hosts Coppin State on Monday, Dec. 20 at 7:05 p.m. in Salt Lake City.

Quickly On Utah
Utah (5-2) heads to Tucson, Ariz., for a Saturday showdown against Arizona (5-2), ranked 15th in both the A.P. and ESPN/USA Today polls, at 11:05 a.m. (MST) in the McKale Center (14,545). The game will be televised throughout most of the nation by Fox Sports Net and broadcast on Hot Ticket 700 (KALL-AM) and the Utah Sports Network. The Utes are 2-2 when playing away from home this season.

The Utes are coming off of a 98-63 win over Montana-Western on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. Last Saturday, Utah fell 71-45 at Utah State to break a three-game winning streak.

Sophomore center/forward Andrew Bogut (7-0, 240) leads the Utes in scoring (16.3 ppg), rebounding (9.9 rpg) and blocked shots (17). Bogut has four double-doubles this season. Senior guard Marc Jackson (6-1, 175) is second in scoring (12.6 ppg), hitting a team-best 60.9 percent of his three-point attempts (14-of-23) and 89.7 percent of his free throws. Sophomore forward Justin Hawkins (6-5, 220) is third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg) and second in rebounding (4.4 rpg). Junior forward Richard Chaney (6-4, 195) is the fourth Ute averaging double figures in points (10.7 ppg). Junior guard Tim Drisdom (6-3, 210) leads the Utes in assists (4.0 apg) and has a 2.15 assists to turnover ratio.

Scouting The Wildcats
Arizona is 5-2 overall and 3-0 at home this season. After losing to Wake Forest (63-60) in the Preseason NIT championship game on Nov. 26, the Wildcats have won two in a row with wins over Wyoming (98-70) at home on Nov. 30 and Mississippi State (68-64) in the John R Wooden Classic at Anaheim, Calif., on Sunday.

Senior guard Salim Stoudamire (6-1, 179) leads Arizona in scoring (16.0 ppg) while shooting 47.9 percent (23-for-48) from three-point range and 86.7 percent at the free throw line. Junior guard Hassan Adams (6-4, 212) is second in both scoring (12.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg). Senior center Channing Frye (6-11, 248) is the third Wildcat averaging double figures in points (11.6 ppg) and is first in rebounding (8.6 rpg). Sophomore guard Mustafa Shakur (6-3, 183) leads Arizona in assists (6.7 apg) and steals (13) while averaging 9.3 points per game. All four of those players are returning starters from a team that went 20-10 last season and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Head Coach Lute Olson
Lute Olson is 524-159 in his 22nd season at Arizona, taking the program to the 1997 national championship, four NCAA Final Four appearances, 20 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and 10 Pacific-10 Conference titles. Olson has also guided Arizona to 17 consecutive 20-win seasons (the longest active streak in the nation), and is one of only five coaches in NCAA history to record 26 or more 20-win seasons.

Olson was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on June 5, 2002. In his 32nd season as a head coach on the NCAA Division I level with time spent at Arizona, Iowa and Long Beach State, Olson is one of just 20 head coaches in NCAA history to win 700 or more games (all divisions). He owns a career record 716-251, which adds up to a winning percentage of .740.

Utah vs. Arizona Series Notes
? Utah and Arizona meet for the 47th time on Saturday. The Utes lead the all-time series 28-18 and have won six of the last nine meetings.

? The teams last met on March 21, 1998 in the NCAA West Regional finals in Anaheim, Calif. The Utes defeated the No. 1-seeded Wildcats 76-51 to advance to the Final Four. Before that Utah win, Arizona had won three in a row in the series.

? Arizona has a 12-8 advantage in games played in Tucson. The Wildcats won the last game played in Tucson 78-64 on Dec. 12, 1992. Before then, Utah had won two in a row in Tucson.

? The two teams met 32 times as members of the WAC with Utah winning 17 of those games. They last met as conference foes during the 1977-78 season.

Take Note Of These Utes
? Junior guard/forward Richard Chaney has shaken off a slow start to the season by scoring in double figures in three of the last four games. Chaney had a season-high 20 points against Montana-Western on Wednesday. He shot 8-for-10 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. After getting 10 points (4-5 FG) against Furman on Nov. 27, Chaney had 19 points and six rebounds in 31 minutes against Southern Utah on Nov. 30. Chaney shot 5-for-8 from the field, 3-for-5 from three-point range and 6-for-6 at the free throw line against the T-Birds. The only game in the last four that the Los Angeles, Calif., native missed reaching double-figures in points was a nine-point effort against Utah State last Saturday.

? Junior forward Bryant Markson had a career-high 15 points against Montana-Western on Wednesday. He made all six shots from the field and converted 3-of-4 free throws. It was Markson's third double-figure scoring game this season. He also scored in double figures the last two games of the Great Alaska Shootout, getting 13 points against High Point and 12 points against Furman. Markson also had a career-best eight rebounds against Furman.

? Sophomore forward Justin Hawkins has scored in double figures in five of the seven games this season--including the first four games. The Anaheim, Calif., native is third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg) and third in assists (2.3 apg). Hawkins set a career-high with 18 points against Washington. He made 7-of-15 from the field against the Huskies to set career-best marks in makes and attempts. Hawkins had a career-best five assists against High Point. His last double-figure scoring game was 11 points (5-6 FG) against Montana-Western on Wednesday night.

? A pair of first-year guards had their best outings of the season against Montana-Western. Freshman Jermaine Calvin (5-9, 177) had season-highs of five assists (no turnovers), four points and four rebounds in 19 minutes. Junior Casey Iverson (6-1, 185), a transfer from the College of Eastern Utah, had season-highs of six points and four assists (no turnovers) in 14 minutes.

? Sophomore forward Jonas Langvad (6-9, 230) had a career-high nine points (4-7 FG, 1-2 FT) and a season-best nine rebounds in 17 minutes against Montana-Western.

Game #7 Rewind
Junior Richard Chaney had a team high 20 points in Utah's 98-63 win over Montana-Western Wednesday night in Salt Lake City

Utah shot 63 percent from the floor in the first half to build a 48-30 lead, and followed it with 66 percent shooting in the second half to defeat the Bulldogs. Montana-Western was not as successful shooting only 44 percent from the field. The Utes finished with a season-best 65.0 field goal percentage. The Utes also had a season-low eight turnovers and a season-best 26 assists.

Montana-Western guard Matt Luedtke had a game high 24 points. The Bulldogs tried to stay in the game with three-pointers, as they almost tripled the Utes' four with their 11. However, the Utes shot 44.4 percent from three-point range, made 16-of-21 free throws and had a commanding 35 to 21 edge on the boards.

Andrew Bogut had 10 points, six rebounds and a game-high three blocked shots. Bryant Markson finished with a career-best 15 points, while forward Justin Hawkins finished with 11 points and six rebounds for Utah.
