SALT LAKE CITY -
The second-highest score in school history wasn't enough for the Utah gymnasts to maintain their position in the national rankings, as the Utes slipped from No. 4 to No. 6 in the latest poll. Utah, which scored a 198.05 in beating Utah State on Friday, dropped below fourth in the national rankings for the first time all season. The 8-1 Utes were ranked No. 1 for two weeks and spent the last four weeks at No. 4. Moving ahead of Utah were LSU and Stanford, which are both making their first appearance of the year in the top six. UCLA remained at No. 1, followed by Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Stanford and Utah.
Four Utes are ranked individually, including three in the vault. Annabeth Eberle is No. 4 with a 9.95 RQS, and Nicolle Ford (9.90) and Rachel Tidd (9.90) are tied for 15th. Melissa Vituj is tied for eighth on floor (9.93) and is 18th on beam (9.895).
