SALT LAKE CITY - Andrew Bogut scored 24 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead Utah past Louisiana State 69-55 Monday night.
Bogut, who had 12 rebounds in the first half, got his seventh straight double-double and has pulled down 49 rebounds in the last three games. The 7-foot Australian scored 11 of Utah's first 12 points in the second half and the Utes (11-3) wore down the Tigers (6-4) for their sixth straight win.
Bogut just missed his career high for rebounds, which was 18 against Minnesota early in his freshman season.
Marc Jackson scored 15 and Bryant Markson added 12 points for the Utes, who won the second meeting between the two schools and evened the series after LSU opened the home-and-home series with a 65-61 win last season in Baton Rouge.
Brandon Bass led LSU with 17 points and nine rebounds and Tack Minor added 12 points. The Tigers have lost three of four despite keeping close Monday with 11 3-pointers.
They had no answer for Bogut.
Bogut scored seven straight points to open the second half, starting it with a dunk and adding a baseline jumper just before the shot clock expired. Bogut kept spinning around whoever was defending him for easy layups.
The Tigers tried double teaming Bogut and he still pulled down two offensive rebounds in one possession.
Jackson hit a 3-pointer and Markson made two free throws to put Utah up 54-44, then Bass answered with a 3-pointer to get the Tigers back within single digits. But Tim Drisdom put back his own miss and Jonas Langvad hit his second 3-pointer of the night to put Utah ahead 59-47. Bogut added two free throws with 5:57 left to make it a 61-47 lead and even the Tigers' 3-point attack wasn't enough to make up the margin.
