Utah Head Coach Rich Manning
"We are very excited to advance to the next round. I was very impressed with Air Force. We played a lot better against them today than we did when we played them before in Salt Lake City and they (AFA) did too. As well as we played we really had to work for everything. It took a lot of work to create a few chances. We worked hard and I think our offensive game was in good rhythm today. And I think that will bode well for the rest of the tournament."
Air Force Head Coach Marty Buckley
"Even though we lost, I thought it was one of our better games we've played this year. That is how it has been all year. We played good, but just weren't able to put the ball into the net. It is something to work on for next year."
Utah Midfielder Kiley Jones
On the play of the midfielders - "I think we were connecting a lot better to day. We were keeping the ball and got three goals, and that was really good. I think our communication has gotten better and our confidence has gone up, so we're playing a lot better together as a team."
Utah Forward Kim Lloyd
On her goal - "It felt great to finally get a goal. It was kind of a build-up goal. I noticed that Air Force was playing real tough and fouling, so I thought that if I could just get close enough and draw a foul that we could get another free kick. Katy Reineke just ran over the ball and I hit it with my right foot. I've been practicing that shot all week, hoping that if I'd get the chance in a game I'd finish it. That's what happened."
On what led to two goals for Utah in the second half - "We were trying to stretch them out and play it wide. The first half we weren't really successful at doing that, but in the second half we got our forwards to stay wide and kind of snuck the ball in between the defenders to break a part their defense."
On Amanda Sanchez's goal - "There's nothing that feels better than to get credit for all your hard work. It was well deserved for Amanda. She's been working hard all season. She hustled, got in the box and made a great play."
Utah Midfielder Amanda Sanchez
On getting the win - "It feels really great. We've been working real hard. To come in here and play this well in our first game is real positive for our team."
On scoring her first goal of the season - "It felt great. Playing in the midfield you have to keep a lot of possession and put in a lot of hard work, but you don't show up on the score sheet."
