SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Chris Jackson scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Utah defeated High Point 80-44 Wednesday night.
Ricky Johns scored 16 points for Utah (7-4) on 7-of-9 shooting. Lawrence Borha added 12 points and Shaun Green scored 10 points.
Akeem Scott led the Panthers (6-3) with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
High Point had no answer for Utah's big men, losing the rebounding battle to Utah 48-29.
High Point also struggled shooting, hitting 19-of-61 while Utah was 29-of-58.
With Utah leading 55-40 and less than 10 minutes left in the game, the Utes went on a 12-0 run that made it 67-40 and put it away.
High Point rallied from a 39-27 halftime deficit, scoring the first four points of the second half to narrow the gap to 39-31, but that is as close as the Panthers came the rest of the way as Utah answered with an 8-0 run.
The game was close in the early stages until Utah, nursing a slight lead with the score 11-9, launched a 10-0 run that left the Utes up 21-9.
Utah made 10-2 run later in the half that included three 3-pointers for the Utes and put them up 36-18 with 3:34 left in the first half.
