- Utah advanced to the semifinals for the sixth straight year. The Utes have won four straight MWC Tournament games, tying Colorado State and trailing only UNLV (5 from 2000 to 2002) for consecutive MWC Tournament victories. Utah is now 7-4 all-time in MWC Tournament play, while CSU is 4-5.
- Including today's game, Bogut has averaged over 17 rebounds per game vs. Colorado State in three meetings this season, including an MWC Tournament record-tying 17 today (Kaspers Kambala, UNLV, also had 17 boards vs. SDSU in 2000). He racked up 34 rebounds vs. the Rams in the two regular season games for a total of 51 boards in the three contests.
- Freshman Jason Smith recorded a career-high four blocks vs. Utah - an MWC Tournament freshman record. Only two other players in MWC history have tallied four blocks in an MWC Tournament game (Josh Davis (5) and Ronell Mingo (4) of Wyoming).
- CSU totaled nine blocks in the game, tying its own single-game MWC Tournament record from 2003 vs. Wyoming and was just one block shy of the Cowboys' overall league tournament record.
- CSU was held to 20 points or less in a half only three times this year and two of those were against Utah (the other was vs. New Mexico), including 20 points in the second half today.
- Andrew Bogut scored the first 11 Utah points of the game in a span of less than five minutes, hitting five-of-five field goals, including an NBA-range three-pointer. He only took one more shot over the next 15-plus minutes of the first half (a miss at 9:48).
- At 11:48 in the first half, Bryant Markson became the first Ute other than Bogut to score a field goal, snapping a 7-0 CSU run to tie the game at 13-13.
- Bogut notched 21 points vs. CSU today for a total of 79 points in three meetings vs. the Rams this season, hitting 28-of-51 from the field, including a career-high 33 points Feb. 12 in Salt Lake City.
- Utah outscored Colorado State 10-0 in bench points as four of five Utes scored off the bench. CSU was held scoreless from the bench for the first time this season.
- Matt Nelson has scored double figures in 26 straight games for the Rams, including a team-high 14 today vs. Utah.
- Micheal Morris sparked a 5-0 CSU run with a pair of blocked shots to give CSU its largest lead of the game at 29-26 at the 1:43 mark of the first half. The Rams held on for a 29-28 lead at the break.
- Utah took its largest lead of the game at 55-39 at 16:39 of the second half, but the Rams used a 9-0 run to trim the lead to 55-48 with 4:10 remaining. Matt Williams scored seven of the nine points in the run and finished with 12 points in the game. Williams has scored double figures in four of seven games since returning from a knee injury.
- Colorado State recorded its second-lowest shooting percentage of the season today vs. Utah, going 19-of-54 from the field for 35.2 percent. The Rams were also just 1-of-13 from beyond the arc, their lowest since going 1-of-14 at Air Force.
- Matt Nelson shot 56.2 percent (9-of-16) from the field in two meetings vs. Utah this season, but was just 3-of-10 (30 percent) vs. the Utes in the first half today and finished the game 6-for-15 (40 percent).
- Utah used an 11-0 run to build a 51-37 at the 8:21 mark of the second half. Utah outscored the Rams 25-9 to open the second half. Earlier this season at Moby Arena, CSU held a 34-30 halftime over Utah, but the Utes outscored the Rams 45-18 in the second half for a 75-52 victory.
- CSU is now 2-6 this season vs. MWC teams when leading at halftime, while Utah improved to 4-1 vs. the MWC when trailing at intermission.
