LOGAN, Utah - Freshman forward Adele Letro continued her torrid start to the season by scoring two goals to lift Utah to a 3-0 win against Utah State on Thursday afternoon.
Letro has a team-high five goals on the season for Utah, which improved to 7-2. Utah State fell to 2-7-2
Junior forward Amanda Feigt scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute. Whitney Dorsey crossed the ball from the middle of the field to set-up Feigt on the side. Feigt beat Aggie keeper Kelli Allred for the score.
Letro added to Utah's lead in the 18th minute, scoring an unassisted goal when Allred misplayed the ball.
Allred was pulled from the game and replaced by Lisa Willardson five minutes later.
Willardson made three saves but gave up a goal to Letro in the 73rd minute. Melissa Wayman sent a long ball down the middle of the pitch to Letro, who beat a charging Willardson.
The Utes outshot the Aggies 16-7. Corner kicks were even at one apiece. Utah had 12 fouls to Utah State's six.
Kim Lloyd had a pair of shots on goal for the Utes but was denied both times. Ashley Mason made four saves for Utah to record the team's fifth shutout of the season.
Utah celebrates Youth Soccer Month against No. 9 California on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Ute Field.
