UCLA UTAHVAULT VAULT Ashley Peckett 9.750 Nicolle Ford 9.700 Ariana Berlin 9.725 Gritt Hofmann 9.700 Maranda Smith 9.650 Jessica Duke 9.800 Melissa Chan 9.600 Nina Kim 9.825 Kristina Comforte 9.200 Kristina Baskett 9.800 Kate Richardson 9.900 Ashley Postell 9.750 VT: 48.625; Running: 48.625 VT: 48.875; Running: 97.150 Utah vault notes: Nicolle Ford had a really nice vault to start things off. I thought Gritt Hofmann's vault was outstanding. She landed a bit to the right of the horse. Jessica Duke really blasted off on her vault. Great air. Nina Kim's vault was stunning. She looked great in the air, legs were straight and together, stuck her landing. Kristina Baskett looked right on target except for her landing, when she had to bend her knees slightly. She did not take any steps or do any balance checks. Everything on Ashley Postell's vault was big except her landing, when she had to take a step and a half backwards. She was in the air almost three quarters of the way down the mat.
BARS BARS Ashley Peckett 9.775 Katie Kivisto 8.575 Maranda Smith 9.025 Ashley Postell 9.000 Courtney Walker 9.625 Nina Kim 9.725 Melissa Chan 9.475 Jessica Duke 9.800 Kate Richardson 9.950 Kristina Baskett 9.875 Kristina Comforte 9.850 Nicolle Ford 9.875 UB: 48.675; Running: 97.300 UB: 48.275; Running: 48.275 Utah bar notes: Katie Kivisto seemed to miss getting her hands on the low bar on her straddle mount and sort of somersaulted over it and hit the ground. She fell again later in the routine. Ashley Postell had a beautiful routine going until she dropped down the low bar and it appeared like her arm gave out. She landed on her feet under the low bar. She got back on and finished her routine so I'm guessing she did not re-injure her elbow. Jessica Duke had a really nice routine. Great lines, handstands were all stood straight, nice flow to the routine. A big wow on Kristina Baskett's first college routine. She flew through it and looked completely confident. Nicolle Ford also worked smoothly and her release moves were strong. She had a small lean on her landing.
xBEAM BEAM Ariana Berlin 9.500 Gabriella Onodi 9.675 Jalynne Dantzscher 9.575 Jessica Duke 9.200 Janelle Dantzscher 9.775 Nina Kim 9.850 Melissa Chan 9.850 Gritt Hofmann 9.775 Kristina Comforte 9.850 Nicolle Ford 9.850 Kate Richardson 9.950 Ashley Postell 9.750 BB: 49.000; Running: 146.300 BB: 48.900; Running: 194.875 Utah beam notes: I don't know enough about routine composition to know what Gabi Onodi got docked for on the beam. She looked absolutely outstanding to me. Very steady and seemed to do a lot of big things. Jessica Duke seemed tentative in the front half of her routine before falling. Nina Kim had a beautiful routine. She had a balance check on her landing, although I didn't see a hop.
FLOOR FLOOR Jalynne Dantzscher 9.475 Gabriella Onodi 9.675 Maranda Smith 9.775 Jessica Duke 9.725 Melissa Chan 8.350 Kristina Baskett 9.825 Kristina Comforte 9.700 Nina Kim 9.225 Janelle Dantzscher 9.125 Nicolle Ford 9.775 Kate Richardson 9.475 Gritt Hofmann 9.825 FX: 47.550; Running: 193.850 FX: 48.825; Running: 145.975 Utah floor notes: Gabi Onodi seemed very precise in her first crack at her new routine. She was especially good on her landings after tumbling moves. Jessica Duke really showed her strength improvement since last year on this routine. She had some very nice tumbling, but made some nice saves on a couple of landings. Okay, Ute fans are going to love Kristina Baskett. Her routine is really fun and clean. Nina Kim had a great routine going before falling on her last pass. Nicolle Ford didn't have any obvious deductions and her new middle pass was especially nice. I thought she looked a little sluggish in parts though. Gritt Hofmann looked phenomenal from her opening pass when she did a beautiful full in, to her finish with a tucked double back.
