The Utah gymnastics team competes for the second time in just five days when it hosts No. 17 Oregon State Friday, Mar. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center ... The No. 6 ranked Utes (9-1) hope to get back on the winning track after a heartbreaking 197.100-197.075 loss to No. 1 Georgia on March 6 ... Oregon State is 12-6 ... The Utah-OSU meet will not be televised, but Utah's meet with Georgia will be re-played on KJZZ, Sunday, Mar. 12 at 5 p.m. ... UTE NOTES
Senior Gabriella Onodi missed Monday's meet with illness and hopes to return to the lineup for Friday. Onodi has been battling sickness for a month now--missing two meets ... Four Utes have scored a 39.35 or better in the all-around: Postell (39.65), Nicolle Ford (39.55), Kristina Baskett (39.40) and Nina Kim (39.35) ... Top Ute individual event scorers are Baskett on vault (9.975), Ford on bars (9.975), and Postell on beam (9.975) and floor (9.925) ... Ute winners include: Baskett (12), Postell (11), Ford (9), Gritt Hofmann (4), Jessica Duke (1) and Kim (1) ... Ford is Utah's only gymnast without a fall this year (32-32).
UTE RANKINGS
A week away from competition resulted in a three-place slide in the rankings for Utah, which opened the week at No. 6. Complete rankings can be found on page 3 of this release. Ashley Postell is Utah's top-ranked individual this week. She is tied for No. 2o n the beam with a 9.910 regional qualifying score (RQS). Nicolle Ford is No. 7 on bars (9.895) and beam (9.875) and No. 11 in the all-around (39.30). Kristina Baskett is No. 9 on bars (9.880) and tied for No. 11 on vault (9.885). Utah's event rankings are: No. 3 on bars (49.215), No. 5 on vault (49.220), No. 7 on beam (48.980) and No. 12 on floor (49.010).
LAST WEEK
No. 1 ranked Georgia edged Utah 197.100-197.075 before a season-high crowd of 13, 809 in the Huntsman Center on Monday. Ashley Postell scored a season-best 39.65 to place second in the all-around and won vault with a career-high 9.95. Nicolle Ford won bars (9.95). Kristina Baskett placed third in the all-around with a personal-best 39.40. The meet came down to the final Ute floor routine and All-American Gritt Hofmann (9.90) came up just short of the 9.925 needed to tie.
SERIES SHORTS
Utah leads 50-6 and is 26-0 in Salt Lake City and 28-5 in the regular season ... Utah has won 9 of the last 10, including both meetings last year (in Corvallis and at the NCAA Regionals in Salt Lake City).
