Women's Tennis- Second Day Results of Utah Invitational

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team ended the second day of the Utah Invitational on another high note on Saturday. Elizabeth Ferris will face Emily Kwok in the Flight A final round, and in the Flight B finals, Jessica Carter and Cinthia Saucedo will compete against eachother. In doubles play, the Utes have the chance to take the win in the finals with Kwok and Cheyenne Reveche representing Utah.

Ferris advanced into the finals after competing against teammate Reveche in the Quarterfinals. Ferris took the first set 6-4, but the match was not completed due to Reveche being injured.

Kwok and Walsh battled it out in the Quarterfinals as well in the Flight A bracket. Walsh took the first set 6-2, but Kwok answered back in the second with 7-5. The two went point for point in the third set with Kwok reigning victorious 2-6, 7-5, 10-3.

Another tough battle was between Karine Bourdages and Carter in the Flight B Quarterfinals. Carter a freshman stepped up her game on Saturday against her teammate to take the match 6-2, 6-7(7), 6-3

The two Ute seniors on the team faced eachother in the Quarterfinals as well. Jessica Watts and Saucedo competed through two sets ending in a 6-1,6-2 favor for Saucedo.

Kwok and Reveche, the No. 4 seeded duo, advance into the doubles finals after an 8-5 win in the Quarterfinals over the No. 1 seed Ferris and Walsh. In the Semifinals earlier in the day, Kwok and Reveche faced teammates Saucedo and Andrea Maughan. The match ended in the 8-5 victory for Kwok and Reveche.

The doubles finals will be held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. MT with Kwok and Reveche facing Monson and Monson from Utah State. The singles finals are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
