Utah Hosts Idaho State Thursday Night
The University of Utah men's basketball team will return home to the Jon M. Huntsman Center Thursday night to host Idaho State University. Tipoff for the Runnin' Ute-Bengal matchup is slated for 7 p.m.
Utah enters Saturday's game with a 7-3 record, coming off a last-second, 67-65 victory over California on the road Saturday evening. The Runnin' Utes opened up a 16-point first-half lead and then saw Cal storm back to regain the lead in the second half. With 5.4 seconds remaining and a 65-65 score, Utah inbounded to Shaun Green on the baseline. Green then drove toward the basket and put up a desperation shot, which fell through with 1.4 seconds remaining, giving the Utes a dramatic victory.
Idaho State is 2-8 coming into the contest. The Bengals are coming off a 75-45 home loss to Washington State Sunday afternoon. The Bengals' two victories have come over Idaho and Montana State-Northern. Matt Stucki is the leading scorer for Idaho State, scoring 12.6 points per game. The Bengals are led by second-year head coach Joe O'Brien.
Runnin' Ute Fast Breaks

? The Bear facts: Utah won back-to-back games against teams with Bear mascots in their last two outings.
? Utah has held four different opponents to 54 points or less this season. The Runnin' Utes did not hold a single 2006-07 opponent to less than 55 points.
? Utah is 122-49 all-time versus current members of the Big Sky Conference. The Utes are above .500 against all six of the nine Big Sky teams they have ever faced.
? The Utes currently rank No. 1 in the MWC and No. 4 in the nation (Dec. 16 ranking) in field-goal percentage, converting at a .517 clip.
? Utah ranks 7th in the Mountain West Conference in field-goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot .431. However, the Utes are ranked 164th in the nation in this category after finishing 322nd last year.
Field Of Dreams
Utah is the top shooting team from the field in the Mountain West Conference and one of the best in the nation. The Runnin' Utes have made more than half their field-goal attempts in six of their first 10 games. Utah is converting at a .517 clip, which is tops in the league and No. 4 in the nation (as of Dec. 16).
No other team in the MWC is above 50 percent. The Utes are also the No. 2 3-point shooting team in the MWC. Utah has hit 74-of-179 from behind the arc, for a percentage of .413 (No. 27 in the nation).
Charitable Contributions
Utah is the top free-throw shooting team in the MWC. The Utes convert from the charity stripe at a rate of .752, a number that has been steadily climbing since a shaky start. Utah was below 70 percent from the line in three of its first four games. The Utes' free-throw percentage was just .671 through the first four contests. Since then, Utah has converted at an .850 clip. Utah has missed just one freebie in its last two games.
Nevill's Numbers
Nevill is on pace to become the 19th player in the 100-year history of Utah basketball to reach both the 1,000-point and 500-rebound marks. Nevill currently has 964 points in his Utah career. With 36 more points, he would be the 32nd player in Utah history to join the 1,000-Point Club. Nevill's current rebounding total sits at 485, leaving him 15 short of the 500 mark. At his current pace, Nevill would reach 500 rebounds at Gonzaga on Dec. 31. With his current pace of 14.0 points per game, he would reach 1,000 points on Jan. 5 when the Utes host Air Force.
Bryant's Big Day
Senior guard Johnnie Bryant had scored a total of 13 points in his previous three outings coming into Saturday's matchup at Califorinia. Bryant -- playing less than 20 miles from his home and in front of more than 30 friends and family members -- picked a good time to break out of his scoring funk. He scored a team-high 14 points and hit 4-of-8 from 3-point range to help Utah pick up the two-point win over the Golden Bears. Two of Bryant's 3-pointers came back to back in the second half when Cal had pulled within one point.
