She did take a step on the landing.OK, Annie DiLuzio catches major air on her vaults. Thatone was huge. Tied her career high.Nicolle Ford looked like she was going to balk but endedup going for it. Her vault was solid, but she steppedback on the landing.Really nice vault by Sarah Shire. Only mistake? She alsotook a step on her dismount.Beautiful vault by Kristina Baskett. All I saw was shearched her back a lot on the landing, but I didn't know thatwas a .15 deduction, or any deduction for that matter.Ashley Postell's vault was big league. She had a verysmall little balance check on the landing.
BARS BARSLisa Willis 9.700 Nina Kim 9.850Mckell Poulson 9.750 Jessica Duke 9.775Aimee Pond 9.775 Daria Bijak 9.825Alethea Boon 9.800 Ashley Postell 9.375Kylee Draper 9.475 Kristina Baskett 9.375Kacie Callens 9.750 Nicolle Ford 9.900UB: 48.775; Running: 97.675 UB: 48.725; Running: 48.725Utah bar notes:Nina Kim started out with a nice routine. She held herlanding long enough before leaning out.Jessica Duke swung the bars better than I've seenher do in quite awhile, but she didn't stick thedismount.Daria Bijak did a great cover when she got a littlestuck on the low bar.Ashley Postell had an amazing routine going andall of the sudden just jumped off the bar and wentand re-chalked. Lya and Linda had a better view andthey said her grip got turned around.Again, Kristina Baskett looked like she was offto a big score and she suddenly fell from the highbar.
BEAM BEAMKacie Capra 9.650 Kristina Baskett 9.850Lisa Willis 9.125 Nina Kim 9.850Alethea Boon 9.300 Daria Bijak 9.825Hayley Jensen 9.800 Sarah Shire 9.825Kaylee Gallup 9.050 Nicolle Ford 9.925Dayna Smart 9.850 Ashley Postell 9.975BB: 47.725; Running: 145.400 BB: 49.425; Running: 196.725Utah beam notes:What I saw of Kristina Baskett's routine was very good exceptshe had a balance check on her punch front. We had to straightenout something with the computer scoring program. Doug and KarenMarshall do an amazing job with the scoring down here and alwayshelp me out, even though Utes and Cougars usually don't play welltogether. For all of you Marky Maypole fans,l he just walked down to thethird row in a stunning red robe and sparkly red tiara.Outstanding, aggrssive and confident routine by Nina Kim. LindaHamilton thinks her deduction came with a somewhat low landing, although she didn't step out of it and it wasn't dramatic.Daria Bijak also moved really well through her routine. Too badshe had a step on the landing, because she was really solid onthe beam. She had the teeniest of balance checks on a spinwas the only thing I saw on the beam.In the big picture, Sarah Shire had a very well executedroutine. It was little bobbles here and there that cost her tenths.Queenie deserved every tenth of that routine, according to thefour reporters I consulted. I missed part of it dealing withcomputer scoring issues, but what I saw was great. When Ashley Postell has her game face on, look out. What a greatroutine. However, it should have received a 9.95 because she didn'tabsolultey yperfectly land her punch front. Fortunately, I'm notjudging in this case.
FLOOR FLOORHeidi Poulson 9.850 Beth Rizzo 9.775Kiki Barrett 9.825 Stephanie Neff 9.225Lisa Willis 9.100 Annie DiLuzio 9.850Kylee Draper 9.825 Nicolle Ford 9.850Dayna Smart 9.875 Kristina Baskett 9.900Kacie Capra 9.825 Ashley Postell 9.925FX: 49.200; Running: 194.600 FX: 49.300; Running: 147.300Utah floor notes:Really nice lead off routine by Beth Rizzo. She has alot of good tumbling in her routine and hit it all. Ithought she looked a little gassed before she headed intoher final pass, but she hit her double back nicely.Stephanie Neff was cruising through her routine withoutany problems and on the very last flip of her very lastpass, she stumbled backwards and fell our of bounds.Good move changing Annie DiLuzio's first tumbling pass toa triple twist from an Arabian front. She navigated itnicely, for the most part, and although she did step outof it, it wasn't very noticeablet.Queenie technically "hit" her routine, but she looked flatand was crooked on two passes. I think she was overscored (sorry Queenie). I give it a 9.80.Kristina Baskett got a well-deserved standing ovation. Shejust nailed that routine. Her full-in and routine-endingdouble pike were particularly strong. She was really on.Ashley Postell just lit this place up. I expected atleast a 9.95. She landed a gigantic double Arabian justin bounds and should have received extra credit for the hugesmile that followed. That routine goes down as one ofAshley's best.
