NEBRASKA UTAH
VAULT VAULTMaria Scaffidi 9.675 Jessica Duke 9.675Desire' Sniatynski 9.750 Jamie Deetscreek 9.650Michele Zabawa 9.850 Sarah Shire 9.750Stephanie Carter 9.750 Nina Kim 9.750Kylie Stone 9.825 Kristina Baskett 9.900Emily Parsons 9.925 Ashley Postell 9.875VT: 49.100; Running: 49.100 VT:48.950; Running: 98.225Utah vault notes:The vault judging (for both teams) seems to be really tight.Jessica Duke had a nice step and I thought she heldher landing long emough to count, before she tooka late step.Jamie Deetscreek got over the vault fine but hada hop on her landing. She didn't have as much flightas Jessie, but it was good.I do not understand Sarah's vault score. That wasa beautiful vault. She showed a ton of power, had great form and landed perfectly. One judge gaveher a 9.70. I can't explain.Nina Kim hit her vault, but it was not as goodas Sarah Shire's because she didn't get as highoff of the horse.Kristina Baskett caught major air and had perfectform. She couldn't quite hold her dismount longenough, taking a lean back. I think that was probablythe entire deduction.Ashley Postell had one of her better vaults. Shedipped a little on her landing, but it was acontrolled dip. That vault set was better thanthe scores indicated.Reminder that scores may be slow going up at timesbecause the flow between events is prettyjagged, probably due to the fact that the men arealso rotating.
BARS BARSEmily Parsons 9.775 Stephanie Neff 9.750Stephanie Carter 9.775 Daria Bijak 9.800Brittany Williams 9.800 Nina Kim 9.800Kylie Stone 9.800 Jessica Duke 9.875Michele Zabawa 9.850 Ashley Postell 9.875Desire' Sniatynski 9.875 Kristina Baskett 9.925UB: 49.100; Running: 98.200 UB: 49.275; Running: 49.275Utah bar notes:That was a really nice bar set. Probably one of our bestthis year. I'm going to kind of summarize because itwas crazy trying to get scores until trusty Salt LakeTribune reporter Lya Wodraska stepped up to the plate andstarted helping me.Stephanie Neff's routine was solid. I'd say she wasmostly dinged for a handstand on the top bar thatwasn't quite straight.Daria Bijak had her usual steady routine.Nina Kim moved really well between the bars. Shedid have a step back on her landing.Jessica Duke had one of her best routines this yearin my opinion. She hit her dismount as well.Ashley Postell's routine was awesome. I believe it isthe first time this year that she has completely nailedher dismount.Kristina Baskett showed absolutely no sign that she hasn'ttrained for a week, due to the flu and a foot injury. I wishshe could do all four events after seeing that routine. She absolutely soared on all of her release moves andstuck her landing cold. She looked like she had plenty ofjuice, especially since she looked so drained all week.
BEAM BEAMKathryn Howard 9.825 Jessica Duke 9.650Maria Scaffidi 9.625 Jamie Deetscreek 9.750Desire' Sniatynski 9.800 Daria Bijak 9.800Kylie Stone 9.200 Sarah Shire 9.825Tricia Woo 9.925 Nina Kim 9.825Emily Parsons 9.950 Ashley Postell 9.250BB: 49.125; Running: 147.325 BB: 48.850; Running: 196.675Utah beam notes:Jessica Duke had a round-house balance check onher first series, but she stayed on, which is obviouslya positive. She looked pretty steady the rest of theway.Jamie Deetscreek looked pretty confident up there. Shehad a medium balance check on her series (not asbig as Jessie's) and I think one judge counted herharder than the other on her landing, which had kind ofa wird little shuffle that came after she had stuck it.OK, I think Daria Bijak was headed for a 10.0 until shejumped on her landing. What a phenomenal routine.Sarah Shire really put on a show for her fans tonight. She has such a great center of gravity. She did everythingcleanly and confidently. I thought she would get probablya 9.875 or 9.90, but maybe I missed something.Nina Kim was gorgeous. That was her best beam routinethis year. I think she had a small hop on her landing, which was too bad, because she was gorgeous on thebeam.Ashley had trouble several times before finally goingoff near the end. I thought she was hurt, but she'snot ... just really angry.
FLOOR FLOORMaria Scaffidi 9.825 Katie Kivisto 9.750Desire' Sniatynski 9.800 Beth Rizzo 9.700Stephanie Carter 9.850 Sarah Shire 9.800Tricia Woo 9.825 Stephanie Neff 9.800Kylie Stone 9.925 Daria Bijak 9.775Emily Parsons 9.925 Ashley Postell 9.900FX: 196.100; Running: 49.350 FX: 49.025; Running: 147.250Utah floor notes:Katie Kivisto had a nice routine. She clearly is feelingstronger finally. I think her leaps were the best I'veseen this year. One judge gave her a 9.80.Beth really cranked until the last tumbling pass, whenshe stumbled forward on her double back. I have to mentionthat she was tagged a lot hard for a stumble thanNebraska's second beamer was, who all but fell on herdismount.Outstanidng debut on floor by Sarah Shire. Her big fanclub in the stands really had something to cheer about. She has a lot of good tumbling, starts, ends and has bigstuff in the middle.Stephanie Neff has a great bag of tricks going on floor. Her tumbling, leaps and dance all looked good.Daria Bijak's deduction came on her first pass, double front, punch front, which she stumbled out of and also cowboyed.I have to tell you that Daria's routine is totally cooland I think it is amazing. I know some people don't likea lot of front tumbling, but hers is all really neat, unusual stuff.Lya (whom we know is impartial to every team but Georgia) andI both agree that there were no deductions visible to thenaked eye in Ashley Postell's routine. It was really abeauty. I will tell any skeptics that Emily Parsons ofNebraska deserved her 9.95 on beam. I think Ashley shouldhave gotten that on floor is all I'm saying.
