INDIANAPOLIS -
Utah All-America gymnast Ashley Postell has received notification that she will be inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame on June 22 in Philadelphia, Pa. She will join her 2003 USA teammates in an induction ceremony held in conjunction with the 2008 USA Olympic Team Trials and the USA Gymnastics National Congress.
Postell, who competed for the USA Senior National Team from 1998-2004, was the 2002 World Balance Beam Champion and a member of the 2003 USA World Championships gold medal team. She was the 2003 U.S. floor exercise champion.
Success has followed Postell from the international arena into the collegiate ranks. The senior from Burke, Va., won the 2007 NCAA balance beam championship and is a two-time NCAA all-around runner-up. She placed third in the all-around as a freshman at the 2005 NCAA Championships. Despite her silver and bronze all-around finishes, Postell has never been beaten in head-to-head all-around competition at the NCAA Championships. In all three cases, her score was topped by the winner of the other qualifying session.
Postell, whose 15 NCAA All-America awards in her first three years at Utah are the most possible, is a health education and promotion major. She earned a 3.8 GPA for the 2007 fall semester.
