No. 2-ranked Utah (2-1) travels to Corvallis, Ore., for a meet with No. 11 Oregon State (6-1) on Friday, Jan. 30. The meet starts at 7 p.m. PT in Gill Coliseum. Live scores and commentary will be available on UtahUtes.com.
QUICK STICKS
Utah gymnastics season ticket sales have topped 5,000 for the first time in school history (5,612). The Utes are averaging 13,016 through two home meets this year and have averaged 12,840 since the 1992 season ... Utah and Oregon State are both regulars at the NCAA Championships. The Utes are the only program to qualify for all 27 NCAA Championships, while Oregon State has made the NCAA's 19 times, including the last three championships .. Utah leads the series 53-6 (14-6 in Corvallis). All six OSU wins over Utah were on its home floor, most recently in 2003. Utah has won the last two meetings in Gill Coliseum and six straight.
UTE NOTES
Kristina Baskett leads Utah with five wins. Other Ute victors are Daria Bijak (2), Annie DiLuzio (2), Nina Kim (2) and Jamie Deetscreek (1) ... Baskett is ranked No. 8 this week in the all-around with a 39.367 total average. She is No. 2 on bars (9.925) and No. 3 on vault (9.900) ... Other Utes in the top 10 include DiLuzio (sixth on floor, 9.883) and Bijak (sixth on bars, 9.883) ... Sophomore All-American
Kyndal Robarts, out with a shoulder tear since December, competed as exhibition on vault and beam last week, scoring a 9.825 and a 9.775. Robarts will lead off on beam this week and may break into the vault lineup--where she was a first-team All-American a year ago ... Still on the injured list is junior All-American Beth Rizzo, who sprained her ankle in the season-opener on Jan. 9 ... Going all-around in all three meets are Baskett (39.625 high), Kim (39.375 twice) and Deetscreek (39.275) ... Utes without a fall are Deetscreek (12-12) and Bijak (9-9) ... Utah is ranked No. 1 in the nation on bars (49.275 average) and No. 3 on vault (49.250).
LAST WEEK
Kristina Baskett won three individual events and the all-around to lead Utah past Washington, 196.850-193.450, last Friday before 13,080 in the Huntsman Center. Baskett scored a 9.925 on vault and bars (tying for first on bars with Daria Bijak) and won the beam with a career-tying 9.90. Bijak's 9.925 on bars tied her career-best, as did her winning 9.90 floor routine. Baskett (39.625) led a Ute sweep in the all-around, finishing ahead of teammates Nina Kim (39.375) and Jamie Deetscreek (39.225).
