No. 2 ranked Utah (9-1) hosts longtime rival Arizona State (2-5) on Friday, Mar. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Utah, out with a bye last week, meets an ASU team coming off its best win of the season against No. 24 Washington. Friday's meet with ASU is the annual Short People Appreciation Night. Life-sized cutouts of 5-foot-1 senior Kristina Baskett will be placed outside the entries and anyone measuring shorter than the cutout will earn free admittance ... In addition, life-sized "growth chart" posters of Baskett will be given to the first 3,000 fans ... Women business owners in the state will be recognized at a pre-meet reception ... The Utes are on pace to break their own NCAA season attendance record. Utah is averaging 13,407 to its home meets--compared to the 13,164 average back in 1993.
UTE NOTES
Utah remained at No. 2 in the national rankings issued Mar. 2. The Utes were No. 1 for three straight weeks before slipping a place two weeks ago when the rankings shifted to regional qualifying score ... Utah is ranked No. 1 on floor (49.285), No. 2 on vault (49.325 RQS), No. 2 on bars (49.325), and No. 7 on beam (49.095) ... Kristina Baskett is No. 2 in the nation this week in three places--the all-around (39.540 RQS), vault (9.925) and bars (9.920)--while checking in at No. 8 on floor (9.880). Nina Kim is ranked No. 10 all-around (39.385) and No. 6 on beam (9.885), Daria Bijak is No. 5 on bars (9.890), Annie DiLuzio is tied for eighth with Baskett on floor (9.880) and

LAST MEET
Showing off a stunning display of power, execution and consistency, Utah scored a season-high 197.525 to beat No. 15 Michigan (195.350) on Feb. 20 before a gathering of 12,517 in the Huntsman Center on Feb. 20. Utah went without a fall for the first time of the season and Utes won every event title and the all-around. Kristina Baskett won the all-around with a season-tying 39.675 and was followed in close succession by Nina Kim (39.475), Daria Bijak (39.375) and Jamie Deetscreek (39.300). Baskett also captured the vault (9.95) and floor (9.925), while
Gael Mackie placed first on bars (9.925) and Kim on beam (9.925).
