ARIZONA STATE UTAH VAULT VAULT Stephanie McMahon 9.800 Stephanie McAllister 9.800 Amelia Rew 9.675 Daria Bijak 9.825 Kaitlynn Bormann 9.800 Beth Rizzo 9.775 Callie Price 9.850 Jamie Deetscreek 9.825 Mary Atkinson 9.900 Annie DiLuzio 9.875 Carly McMahon 9.650 Kyndal Robarts: 9.925 VT: 49.025; Running: 49.025 VT: 49.250; Running: 98.225 Utah vault notes: Stephanie McAllister was a last-second replacement for Gael Mackie and stepped up with a good vault, other than a step and a half on her landing. Daria Bijak told the coaches last night that she was ready to move down in the lineup and her first vault from the No. 2 spot paid off. Beth Rizzo got some really nice air off the horse. She was deducted for a split leg landing. Jamie Deetscreek had good form in the air but a step on her landing. Annie DiLuzio went really big on that one and her legs were perfectly straight. She did have a small step ... so small I thought she would get a 9.90, which she did from one judge.
BARS BARS Francesca Mercurio 9.775 Jacquelyn Johnson 9.750 Kaitlynn Bormann 9.750 Cortni Beers 9.750 Stephanie Hangartner 9.700 Stephanie McAllister 9.850 Nicole Johnson 9.200 Gael Mackie 9.000 Kahoku Palafox 9.775 Daria Bijak 9.900 Mary Atkinson 9.800 Jamie Deetscreek 9.725 UB: 48.850; Running: 97.875 UB: 48.975; Running: 48.975 Utah bar notes: Jac Johnson had a nice, clean routine. She moved very smoothly and hit her handstands. The ones I could see, that is. ASU's non-vaulters are standing in the way. I thought Cortni's routine looked good and she had a solid landing. Lya said she split her legs at some point. I loved Stephanie McAllister's routine. She really flew through it and looked really confident and clean. Gael Mackie fell about midway throug her routine, then almost went over on a handstand, although she righted herself. Dar's routine was just awesome. She was comletely in control, had great energy and totally stuck her landing, rock solid. Jamie Deetscreek had it going until the end when she totally missed a handstand. She got only about halfway up. Kyndal Robarts' vault was absolutly stunning. That is the third time this year that I thought she deserved a 10.0. That is good as you can do a vault. I didn't even get mad when the other gymnasts hugged her, which I am trying to break them of doing.
BEAM BEAM Kaitllynn Bormann 9.800 Stephanie McAllister 9.775 Francesca Mercurio 9.200 Cortni Beers 9.725 Kelly Reilly 9.700 Annie DiLuzio 9.875 Stephanie Hangartner 9.750 Jamie Deetscreek 9.850 Kahoku Palafox 9.825 Daria Bijak 9.825 Mary Atkinson 9.725 Kyndal Robarts 9.825 BB: 48.800; Running: 146.675 BB: 49.150; Running: 196.475 Utah beam notes: Stephanie McAllister is turning into a ringer, especially when she leads off. She moved across the beam really well and hit all of her series, leaps, etc., from my viewpoint. Cortni Beers lost out on a big score becuase I'm pretty sure she paused a little too long to get credit for one connection. The rest of the routine was excellent. For all of you Annie DiLuzio fans out there, this kid has really turned into a beamer. That routine could have gone for a 9.95 in my thinking. Regardless, she tied her career high for the second straight week. Jamie Deetscreek was in control all the way through the routine. I think she covered in one place when she usually does a different move, but I'm not an expert, as you all know. Daria Bijak hit all of her flips and leaps like a champ, but she had a little balance check coming off of a spin move. Kyndal Robarts rocked on that routine. I looked down once and may have missed Kyndal's.deductions then, because I didn't catch anything.
FLOOR FLOOR Francesca Mercurio 9.500 Katelyn Mohr 9.600 Brittany Schuett 9.625 Stephanie McAllister 9.750 Stephanie Hangartner 9.800 Jamie Deetscreek 9.775 Madison Snowden 9.850 Daria Bijak 9.850 Nickie Johnson 9.875 Kyndal Robarts 9.825 Mary Atkinson 9.875 Annie DiLuzio 9.875 FX: 49.025; Running: 195.700 FX: 49.100; Running: 147.325 Utah floor notes: Other than a step out of bounds on her first tumbling pass, that was the best floor routine I've seen Katelyn Mohr do. Stephanie McAllister had a lot of pop in that routine and I'm wondering if her tendency to fly around a little maybe cost her a bigger score. Jamie upgraded her routines and hit all of the upgrades. Her pike double back at the finish was particularly solid. I saw one sort of mediocre leap, but that was it Just when I think Daria can't do that first pass any better, she does. That is the coolest pass in college gymnastics in my opinion. She bounced a little out of one pass, but I'm nitpicking. Great routine. Kyndal Robarts must have lost a half tenth here or there because essentially that routine was really nice. Big double Arabian to start, hit pike double back to finish. Her leaps looked high and clean. Too bad Annie DiLuzio stutter stepped out of her first triple twist, because the rest of the routine was fine. She totally nailed her final triple for a good last impression.
