STEAMBOAT, Colo. - Utah skiers Torjus Krogdahl and Anna Kocken each finished on the podium in the men's and women's slalom races on the third day of the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors. The Utes are currently fourth in the overall standings.
Krogdahl finished second in the slalom for the third time this season with a time of 1:15.03, just off the pace of winner Andreas Adde (Alaska-Anchorage). He is Utah's only two-time All-American at this year's NCAA Championships. Krogdahl also earned All-America honors in the giant slalom on Wednesday with a ninth-place finish.
Kyle Kung and Max Lamb also finished strong. Kung was 13th in 1:16.87 with Lamb 16th in 1:17.20.
For the women, Kocken's third-place run in 1:21.00 marked her first career All-America honor. She had shown marked improvement in the slalom throughout the year before winning the last race of the season. Sofia Smith placed 17th with a time of 1:23.16 while a mistake relegated Eva Huckova to a 33rd-place finish. It was the first NCAA race of her career in which Huckova did not earn All-America honors.
Denver continues to lead with 589.5 points while New Mexico had a surge for 535 points. Colorado is third with 504 points followed by the Utes 472 points. Vermont stands fifth with 423.5 points.
The NCAA Championships conclude on Saturday, March 13, with the Nordic freestyle races.
