Post-Meet Quotes
Regional Winner - Florida
Head Coach Rhonda Faehn:
"I'm thrilled with how this turned out tonight. Utah is an exceptional environment and it was nice to have such a great crowd. I think the athletes fed off the crowd all night."
"We started off rough on floor but were able to rebound over the next three events. I was really proud of our girls for continuing to fight and not giving up. I'm proud of the heart our girls showed and we are looking forward to going back home to compete now."
"Our past experience with having a bad event at the SEC Championships and fighting back really helped us tonight to get the victory. We learned from that experience and came back well tonight after a bad start on floor, which showed maturity from our young team."
"Ashanée was unbelievable tonight. She is so great and continues to get better and excel each meet."
"I'm thrilled to be back on the podium and excited to be able to go back home to compete next. We know anything can happen at Regionals and emphasized how important ever tenth-of-a-point counts in these big meets."
Ashanée Dickerson:
"It was a great crowd tonight. The fans cheered for everyone and it was so nice. It was a great atmosphere and we were able to feed of the energy of each girl."
Regional Runner-Up - Utah
Co-Head Coach Greg Marsden
"We made a few mistakes on floor so it is hard to complain when you make mistakes. I was so happy for the first three girls that went out because they did as well as they could do."
"I am happy for our girls. They felt a huge burden this season. I am really happy for them that they came through when it really counted."
"Vault and beam did especially well tonight, they have been training well on those. I think we can be better all around. We just have to be the best we can be and see what the outcome is. This year has been a little bit of a rollercoaster ride and when you go through one of those it is especially rewarding to have a night like tonight."
Co-Head Coach Megan Marsden
"I think the girls finally competed on beam the way they are capable of competing. I think some of it was the talk we had with the team where we made the team talk about what they were worried about. They were worried about qualifying for the championships and if they can't hit beam we might not make it. We wanted them to know that if something did happen that life would go on and I think it helped them know that Greg and I will be ok if it didn't go our way. Since then they have been competing they way they know how."
"We all knew that Kyndal would want to compete and try her hardest to compete for us but it was nice to witness it because it is a rare art form nowadays. She is tough and she shows it on a regular basis. It was especially nice to witness because she came in when the team needed her most. She helped give the team more confidence."
Kyndal Robarts
"We have been hearing that [everything tonight was against us] all week, that we have nothing to lose. Just to come out and surprise everyone tonight fueled our fire."
"I think that I started on the floor nervous because I had not done anything on my foot since I hurt it. Then once I did floor and realized it was fine and the beam was something I was confident in. It was fun to be up there and be able to do my routine without any pressure thanks to everyone else's great performances."
"I think that we are all just relieved that we did so well tonight and feel that a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. I say this because there seems to be this legacy that Utah has never-not made it to Nationals and people were kind of questioning our ability to move on this season, which made us nervous."
Jamie Deetscreek
"Everyone was just confident tonight when they went in and knew that they were going to do hit their routine on the beam. [Greg (Marsden]also had a talk with us earlier this week and kind of asked us what we had to lose and told us to just relax and do what we know how to do. I think that helped take the pressure off of everyone and have fun.
"I am proud of Courtney and the score she got. She really stepped up and came in ready to go. I am glad she pulled through."
Daria Bijak
"I was really mad at myself after my floor routine because there was no reason for that [fall] to happen, but I am happy with my bar and beam routine."
