SALT LAKE CITY--The Utah women's gymnastics team was eighth in the 2010 academic rankings released by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W). The Utes' team grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year was 3.4985.
Eight Utes were named NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans: Daria Bijak, Jamie Deetscreek, Jacquelyn Johnson, Fumina Kobayashi, Katelyn Mohr, Stephanie Neff, Kyndal Robarts and Meg Whitney.
Highlighting other academic honors for the 2010 Utes, five were named Mountain West Conference Scholar Athletes, nine were placed on the Dean's List and 13 made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (Cortni Beers, Bijak, Deetscreek, Annie DiLuzio, Johnson, Kobayashi, Gael Mackie, Stephanie McAllister, Mohr, Neff, Beth Rizzo, Robarts and Meg Whitney).
Bijak was an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA first-team Academic All-American. She also won Utah's 2010 Bud Jack Academic Award, which is given to the senior female athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. Bijak, who was an eight-time All-American, carries a 3.85 GPA in film studies.
