THIS WEEK IN UTAH GYMNASTICS
The No. 4-ranked Utah gymnasts (2-0) compete against No. 9 Nebraska (1-1) on Saturday, Jan. 22 in Lincoln, Neb. The meet starts at 7 p.m. CT (6 p.m. MT) in the Devaney Center. Free live video streaming is available on Huskers.com. For commentary and scores, go to UtahUtes.com.
WHY NUMBER FOUR?
Even wins over two of the most powerful gymnastics programs in the nation (UCLA and Georgia), and a 2-0 record, the Utes slipped from No. 3 a week ago to No. 4 this week in the national rankings. The reason is that record and quality of opponent do not factor into the gymnastics rankings. Through Feb. 14, the rankings are based on total season average. Starting on Feb. 21, the rankings switch to regional qualifying score, which involves an average that includes a selection of home and road meets.
