2011 New Mexico Invitational Final Results
RED RIVER, N.M. - Didrik Smith registered his first win of the season in the men's 10k freestyle race to help the University of Utah ski team to a second-place finish Saturday at the New Mexico Invitational in Red River, N.M. The Utes totaled 831 points in the team standings to earn their third second-place finish in three events this season.
Didrik Smith took first place in the 20k freestyle with a time of 25:59.5, while Tom Smith took a fifth-place tie at a time of 26:29.5. Ian Havlick completed Utah's scoring with a 10th-place effort after crossing the finish line in 26:39.9. Rolf Figi completed his 20th-place performance in 28:03.9.
Maria Graefnings took home her sixth consecutive victory to begin this season, winning the 10k freestyle race in a time of 29:27.7. Rose Kemp posted a 12th-place performance in a time of 31:55.4 while Sarah MacCarthey was the final Ute scorer with a 27th-place effort at 33:53.3. Madeleine Talkington followed in 29th place at 34:00.7 and Parker Tyler claimed 30th in a time of 35:48.7.
Tii-Maria Romar turned in her second consecutive runner-up finish in the women's slalom with a combined time of 1:36.97. Anna Kocken followed in fourth place with a time of 1:39.10 then Sofia Smith rounded out Utah's scoring with a 30th-place effort of 1:45.83. Jaime Dupratt turned in a time of 1:46.83 for 32nd place.
On the men's side, Torjus Krogdahl was Utah's highest finisher with a time of 1:35.90 for third place for his first podium finish of the season. Ryan Wilson joined Krogdahl in the top 10 with an eight-place effort of 1:36.98 then Eian Sandvik was the Utes' final scorer in 13th at time of 1:37.95. Nick Cohee took 14th place at time of 1:38.17.
Utah's final tune-up before the NCAA/RMISA Regional will be Feb. 11-13 at the Denver Invitational.
