THIS WEEK IN UTAH GYMNASTICS
The No. 3-ranked Utah gymnasts (4-1) host No. 13 Washington (6-5) on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Former Ute gymnasts in town for the annual alumni meet will be recognized in a pre-meet ceremony. It is also Valentine's Sweetheart night and the ticket promo is buy one, get one free. GOOD AND YOUNG
In each of the past two meets, Utah's freshman class has performed 14 of the 24 total routines. With the loss of senior
Kyndal Robarts--the nation's top-ranked vaulter--to a knee injury three meets ago, five of Utah's six vaulters are now freshmen. For the season, freshmen have performed half (61-120) of Utah's total routines.
Corrie Lothrop is tied for the team victory lead with four, while
Mary Beth Lofgren has three wins and
Victoria Shanley has one. All six of Utah's freshmen have competed to count this season: Lothrop, Lofgren, Shanley,
Nansy Damianova,
Lia Del Priore and
Hailee Hansen.
QUICK STICKS
Utah has averaged 13,042 fans to its first three home meets, including the largest crowd to watch an NCAA gymnastics meet this season (13,835 vs. Stanford on Jan. 28) ... Utah scored a season-high 196.525 in its win over Arizona State (194.125) last week after hitting all 24 routines. While the Utes have not counted a fall this season, it marked the first time that they have gone 24-24 in a meet ... The Utes have hit 95% (114-120) of their routines ... Jacquelyn Johnson will return to action this week after missing two meets with concussion symptoms. Johnson, who was competing on vault, bars and floor prior to the injury, will rejoin the lineup on bars and floor vs. UW. Freshman Shanley has earned a starting job in the vault lineup after posting back-to-back 9.875's in Johnson's absence ... Junior All-American McAllister and freshman Lothrop are tied for the team victory lead with four each. Other Ute winners are Lofgren (3),
Kyndal Robarts (2) and Shanley (1) ... Utah is one of three teams with three all-arounders in the top 20 (top-ranked Florida and No. 2 Stanford are the others): McAllister is No. 8 (39.295 average), Lofgren is 15th (39.225) and Lothrop is 17th (39.190). LAST WEEK
Utah got off to a fast start on the vault and coasted to a 196.525-194.125 win over Arizona State before a crowd of 12,836 in the Huntsman Center.
Corrie Lothrop posted season highs in winning the all-around (39.425) and beam (9.875), while
Stephanie McAllister won first-place on bars (9.90) and freshman
Victoria Shanley earned her first college win on the vault (9.875).
SERIES SHORTS
(For complete series results, see page 6) ... Utah has never lost in 40 tries against the Huskies with the only blemish to its record a tie in 2001 ... The overall series is 39-0-1 and Utah leads 17-0 in Salt Lake City ... The Utes won twice last season, beating the Huskies in Seattle on Jan. 23 and again at the NCAA Salt Lake Regional on Mar. 10.

Meg Whitney, a sophomore transfer from Utah, is competing on vault and beam for UW. Whitney competed in two meets last year for the Utes, performing two vaults and one beam routine.
