SALT LAKE CITY - Utah junior Megan Trabert was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Soccer Team for Region 8 this morning.
Trabert has been recognized as one of the nation's top student-athletes for her performance on the field and in the classroom by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
She currently owns a 3.91 GPA and is majoring in business. She is the first Ute to earn this distinction since Lauren Dudley in 2011.
Trabert has started every game since arriving at Utah and was a Pac-12 All-Academic selection last season. A preseason Pac-12 all-conference selection, the team captain is currently tied for second on the team with three goals.
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the third year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
