SALT LAKE CITY -
Utah senior Georgia Dabritz, the 2015 NCAA uneven bar champion and Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year, has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large first team. The at-large team, which covers 13 NCAA Division I sports, was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Dabritz, the 2015 Pac-12 Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the AAI Award winner as the top senior gymnast in the nation, has maintained a 3.808 cumulative grade point average while pursuing dual majors in health, society and policy and health education.
She becomes the fifth Ute gymnast to be named a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American. The others were Shannon Bowles (2002), Theresa Kulikowski (2002, 2003), Kristina Baskett (2009) and Daria Bijak (2010).
In April, the Newburyport, Mass., native became the first gymnast in NCAA Championships' history to score a 10.0 on bars in both the NCAA semifinals and Super Six team competitions. She finished her career by winning the NCAA uneven bar championship, scoring a 9.9625.
A 16-time All-American, eight-time NCAA Regional champion and six-time Pac-12 champion, Dabritz won every major Pac-12 award during her career: Gymnast of the Year (2015), Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2015), Specialist of the Year (2014) and Freshman of the Year (2012).
Utah's three-time MVP led the Utes in victories all four years of her career and her 88 career victories is tied for fourth in school history. A co-captain this past season, she was named Utah's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete in an award voted on by her peers.
She is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and a two-time NACGC Scholar All-American.
