Utah Vault Notes: MaKenna Merrell did a good debut vault after Kailah Delaney tweaked her knee in pre-meet warmups. Kailah was scheduled to go No. 6, so they pushed everyone down a place. MaKenna's chest was a little low on the landing, so that might have been part of the deduction. Kari Lee's vault was also nice. She had a hop on the landing. Tiffani Lewis stepped things up a notch with huge amplitude and a big stick. Baely Rowe had a nice vault with a step. I thought Sam Partyka would score a bit higher on that vault. It was a beauty and she nailed the landing. Breanna Hughes is killing it with that 1 and 1/2 vault. She had great flight and stuck that tough landing cold.

Utah bar notes: Absolutely incredible bar set. Kari Lee looked great on the bars. Had a small step on her dismount. I'm going clump the last five together because I'd just repeating the same thing over and over again for (in this order) Sabrina Schwab, Kassandra Lopez, Breanna Hughes, Baely Rowe and Tiffani Lewis. That is: Huge release moves, perfectly straight handstands, great swings and rock solid stuck landings. Wow, what a set! Funny thing was warm-ups were not so good.

Utah Beam Notes: Samantha Partyka's routine was breathtaking. Not a single wobble on the beam. She had the smallest of hops on her landing. It was an amazing routine. Kassandra Lopez was similarly solid other than a balance check after her front somersault. Nice routine. MaKenna Merrell was steady until she had to windmill to stay on after her series. Otherwise, good job. Kari Lee's routine was amazing from start to finish. She and Samantha just floated through those routines. Sorry for the false hope on Baely's routine. My view of her mount was blocked and it turns out she had to grab the beam to stay on. Maddy Stover didn't let the mistake from Bae bother her. Only thing I saw was I think she missed a connection.

Utah Floor Notes: Breanna Hughes is having a big night. That was a beautiful routine with good landings on her tumbling passes, especially the last one. Sabrina Schwab and Samantha Partyka both had near perfect routines going until the couldn't quite manage the landing cleanly on their final twisting pass. In place of injured Kailah Delaney (she should be OK by the way), MaKenna Merrell received a 9.85 from one judge. She didn't have any big deductions, but was a little loose on some elements. Kari Lee and Tiffani Lewis both had beautiful routines going until the final double back. Kari fell forward to the ground, while Tiffani lunged and stumbled out of hers.
