SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah head volleyball coach
Beth Launiere has announced the addition of four athletes that have signed National Letters of Intent to play volleyball for the Utes beginning in the fall of 2017. Joining the squad will be Dani Barton (Sandy, Utah), Phoebe Grace (Laie, Hawaii), Kenzie Koerber (Chino Hills, Calif.) and Shannon Scully (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

DANI BARTON
Sandy, Utah
Brighton High School

Barton was a four-year letterwinner at Brighton High School under head coach Adam Fernandez, where she helped lead the Bengals to a 29-3 overall record and a second-round appearance in the Utah State Championships this past season. A 2016 Second Team Under Armour All-American selection, Barton registered 339 kills with a .610 hitting percentage, 225 digs, 61 total blocks and 31 service aces during her senior campaign. She has also been named a finalist for the Utah Gatorade Player of the Year award, which will be presented in January 2017.

Barton ranked No. 8 overall in the state of Utah with her 339 kills this past season. She registered 15 kills or more in eight matches, which included a season-high 30 kills against Bingham High School back on Sept. 22. She is a PrepVolleyball.com Top-100 Senior Ace, coming in at No. 41 overall.

Barton was a 2015 First Team All-State selection after posting 372 kills and 48 service aces for the Bengals her junior season. She would go on to help lead her squad to the State Championship Final Four.

Barton is the daughter of Paul and Mikki Barton, who were both two-sport student-athletes at Utah. Her father played football and baseball, while her mother played basketball and volleyball for the Utes. She has two brothers, Jackson and Cody, who both play football for the Utes. She is undecided on a major.

"Dani is a tremendous 6'0 athlete, competitor and multi-sport athlete that can do it all. One of the top volleyball and basketball players in Utah, Dani is also one of the best beach volleyball players in the country. She is left-handed, has great strength and plays high above the net. She is the type of player that thrives on competing and will be a great asset to the Utah volleyball program because of her physical and intangible attributes."

PHOEBE GRACE
Laie, Hawaii

Grace is a three-year letterwinner out of Kahuku High School, who played under head coach Mounia Tachibana. She is the No. 2-ranked player out of the state of Hawaii following a senior campaign where she registered 163 kills, 96 total blocks and 23 service aces. Her 96 total blocks ranked second most among players in Hawaii this past season.

Grace, who was tabbed a PrepVolleyball.com Preseason All-American, helped lead her high school squad to a 22-5-1 overall record and a third-place finish in the State Championship Tournament. She registered 45 kills and eight total blocks in three state championship matches, then went on to earn all-tournament honors.Â

Following the conclusion of the 2016 season, Grace was named the 2016 Oahu Inter-Scholastic Association East Division Player of the Year.

Grace is the daughter of Alfred and Valerie Grace. She has two sisters, Weathirly and Summer. Grace is currently undecided on a major.

She has great size and length and moves around the court well as a middle blocker. She was instrumental in helping Kahuku High School to a number one ranking in Hawaii for most of this year. We have watched her get exponentially better in the last two years and are excited about the impact she can make at Utah."

KENZIE KOERBER
Chino Hills, Calif.

Koerber is a three-year letterwinner out of Chino Hills High School where she played under head coach Andy Farrow. In her three-year prep career, Koerber registered 563 kills, 274 digs 85 service aces and 50 blocks. She posted a season-high 317 kills her junior season, which ranked among the top-150 in the entire state of California.

Koerber ranked No. 35 overall in the state of California with a .350 hitting percentage that she tallied this past season as a senior. She helped lead her team to a 24-7 overall record and a 9-1 mark in Baseline league play.

Following her junior season, Koerber was named First Team All-Baseline League, a Division 1A First Team All-CIFSS selection, a Second Team All-SoCal honoree and a
Daily Bulletin All-Area member.

Koerber is the daughter of Kenneth and Denise Koerber. She has one sister, Sydney. Koerber plans to major in communications after enrolling at the U.

"Kenzie is a 6'3 agile athlete with great length. She is a left-handed player that is very effective from the right side as both an attacker and blocker. Kenzie plays for one of the top junior volleyball programs in the country (T-Street) and will bring a lot of high level experience to our team. We're excited about all that Kenzie can bring to the Utah volleyball program.

SHANNON SCULLY
Huntington Beach, Calif.
Mater Dei High School
OH/RS | 6-2

Scully is a four-year letterwinner out of No. 2-nationally ranked Mater Dei High School, where she played under head coach Dan O'Dell. A member of the 2015 CIF Southern Section 1AA Championship squad, Scully has played in over 325 sets at Mater Dei, where she has registered 1,060 career kills, 124 total blocks, 1,032 digs and 87 service aces.

As a senior, Scully has helped lead her squad to a 34-6 overall record and a CIFSS Division I Championship appearance. She has tallied 434 kills, 297 digs, 45 total blocks and 35 service aces. Her 416 kills rank No. 29 overall in California, while her .324 hitting percentage ranks among the top-50 players in the state.

Scully has also been named a finalist for the California Gatorade Player of the Year award, which will be presented in January 2017. She was named a Third Team Under Armour All-American earlier this season.

Following a junior season where she tallied 320 kills, 35 service aces, 43 total blocks and 382 digs, Scully went on to being named First Team All-Trinity League,
Orange County Register First Team All-County and her team's MVP.

Scully is the daughter of Tom and Karil Scully. She has two brothers, Thomas and Matthew, and on sister, Mary. Scully plans to major in business marketing when she enrolls at the U.

"Shannon is a 6'2, six-rotation, outside hitter that brings high level skills to the position. She is a natural passer and defender and plays the entire game excelling in all skills. Shannon plays for a very prestigious high school and volleyball program at Mater Dei. She is a teammate of Kenzie Koerber on T-Street Volleyball Club and is a winner at every level of volleyball that she plays on year-round."
