This Week in Utah Gymnastics
The No. 7 Utah gymnasts (4-0, 2-0 Pac-12) will face their stiffest test to date on Saturday, Feb. 6 vs. No. 5 UCLA (2-2, 1-1 Pac-12) in Los Angeles. The meet will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks starting at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT. Live commentary can be found at UtahUtes.com.
Pac-12 Powerhouses
Utah and UCLA have combined to win three of the four Pac-12 Championships to date. Utah is the two-time defending Pac-12 Champion and the preseason favorite to repeat in 2016. UCLA won the inaugural Pac-12 Championship in 2012 and was the preseason No. 2 pick. Utah has qualified for a record 40-straight national championships with 10 national titles (nine NCAA), while UCLA has made the championships 33 times and has six NCAA titles. Quick Sticks
Both Utah and UCLA competed on Monday, with Utah beating Arizona 197.150-194.850 and UCLA falling at Cal 196.375-195.175. UCLA's Pac-12 win came against Arizona … The Utes have won six straight against the Bruins, but have not won in Pauley Pavilion since 2008 (see Series Shorts for more) … Utah is averaging 14,578 fan at its home meets, including two crowds in excess of 15,000.
National Rankings
Utah was No. 7 in the Monday, Feb. 1 rankings, which did not include its season-high 197.150 scored Monday night. Utah is No. 3 on bars (49.292 average), No. 5 on beam (49.125) and No. 8 on vault (49.125). Utah's best individual rankings are on bars, where
Baely Rowe is ranked No. 4 with a 9.917 season average and
Kassandra Lopez is No. 8 (9.892).

All-America sophomore
Kari Lee suffered a season-ending injury in practice on Jan. 26, tearing her left Achilles tendon. She underwent surgery on Jan. 29. Lee was a three-time All-American and a two-event NCAA event finalist as a freshman in 2015. She was Utah's only all-arounder in the first three meets this season and had victories in the all-around and on the balance beam.

Samantha Partyka competed in the all-around for the first time on Monday against Arizona. Hughes won the all-around with a 39.525 and Partyka finished second (39.30) … Utes have won four Pac-12 weekly awards:
Sabrina Schwab was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Jan. 12 and Feb. 2,
Breanna Hughes was Specialist of the Week on Jan. 19 and
Baely Rowe Specialist of the Week on Jan. 26.
Series Shorts
Utah leads the series 50-25-1 and has won six straight since UCLA's last win in a tri-meet in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Mar. 7, 2014. The Utes have not beaten the Bruins in L.A. since 2008 and have lost four straight in Pauley Pavilion since then. Utah has an 11-8 all-time series lead in Los Angeles.
