The No. 5 ranked Utah gymnastics team has received the No. 1 seed into the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional on Saturday, Apr. 2. The meet will start at 6 p.m. MDT in the Huntsman Center. Joining host Utah in the Salt Lake City Regional in order of seed: No. 8 UCLA, No. 17 Washington, No. 23 Southern Utah, Illinois and Utah State.
A total of six regional meets will be held on Apr. 2, with the top two teams from each regional advancing to the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, Apr. 15-16.
Tickets for the Salt Lake City Regional range from $6 to $16 for the general public and are just $1 for University of Utah students in section U. All seating is in the lower bowl and ticket prices are $8 for adults/$6 for kids in rows 21-31 and $16 for seats in rows 1-20. Four at-large all-around competitors and eight at-large event specialists will also participate in each regional. Rotating with Utah will be at-large all-arounder Kalliah McCartney of Sacramento State. A complete list of at-large competitors in the SLC Regional can be found at the end of this release.
As a No. 1 seed, Utah drew the rotation that starts on a bye, followed by bars, beam, bye, floor and vault. The Utes are bidding to extend their national-record streak of national championship appearances to 41 straight. Last year's Utah team placed second at the NCAA Championships.
The Utes have met three of the teams in the Salt Lake City Regional this season and are 3-2 against them. Utah is 0-2 against UCLA, 2-0 against Washington and 1-0 against Southern Utah.
Utah is coming off a second-place tie at the Pac-12 Championships. UCLA won the meet with a 197.250 while Utah recovered from two falls on its opening event (the balance beam) to score a 196.925 and tie with Oregon State for second. Utes won four of the five individual titles, with Breanna Hughes winning the all-around and vault, Baely Rowe tying for first on beam and Tiffani Lewis tying for first on floor.
