The Utah gymnastics team led all schools on the 2016 All-Pac-12 team announced today, with eight Utes earning all-conference honors. Joining all-arounder Breanna Hughes on the first team were Kailah Delaney on vault, Baely Rowe and Kassandra Lopez on bars, and Maddy Stover on beam. Making the All-Pac-12 second team were Tiffani Lewis on vault and floor, Samantha Partyka on vault and Sabrina Schwab on floor.
The all-conference team is based on regional qualifying score (RQS). A gymnast who makes the all-conference team in the all-around is not eligible for individual event honors and a gymnast who makes the first team on one event is not eligible for second-team honors on another.
Hughes, who was recently crowned the Pac-12 all-around champion, is ranked second in the conference and No. 7 in the nation in the all-around with a 39.540 RQS. She has five all-around wins this season and 19 total victories. Hughes was also named the Pac-12 Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Delaney becomes Utah's first four-time All-Pac-12 first-team vaulter with this year's award. Lopez and Rowe, who are currently tied for fourth in the Pac-12 and 17th in the nation on bars, are making their second appearance on the all-conference team and their first as first-team members. Lopez was second-team All-Pac-12 on bars last year, while Rowe made the second-team on beam. Lopez was also named the 2016 Pac-12 Specialist of the Year and Rowe won the Pac-12 beam title.
Stover, Lewis, Partyka and Schwab all won all-conference honors for the first time this season. Stover is ranked third in the Pac-12 and 15th in the nation on the balance beam. Schwab is nationally ranked at No. 21 on the floor and Lewis is coming off a first-place finish on floor at the Pac-12 Championship. Schwab was voted the 2016 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
