Utah senior Breanna Hughes and sophomore Maddy Stover have been recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastic Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) as 2016 regular season All-Americans.
Hughes, who is currently ranked in the top 20 in the all-around (No. 7), on vault (No. 12), floor (No. 12) and bars (No. 17), is a 2016 All-American in all of those disciplines. She is a first-team all-arounder and is second team on vault, bars and floor. Stover made the second team on beam, where she is ranked No. 15 in the country.
Hughes is now a five-time All-American, having won second-team honors on beam as a freshman at the 2013 NCAA Championships. The team named at the championships has been in existence since the NCAA adopted women's sports in 1982, while the NACGC/W regular-season All-America team began in 2013. Stover is a first-time All-American.
Utah has six All-Americans on its current roster, including Hughes and Stover. Kari Lee and Kailah Delaney are both three-time All-Americans, and Kassandra Lopez and Samantha Partyka made the All-America team at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
The No. 5-ranked Utes are preparing for the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional, held the Huntsman Center at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 2. Joining Utah in the regional will be No. 8 UCLA, No. 17 Washington, No. 23 Southern Utah, Illinois and Utah State. The top two finishers will advance to the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, Apr. 15-16.
Tickets for the Salt Lake City Regional range from $6 to $16 for the general public and are just $1 for University of Utah students in section U. All seating is in the lower bowl and ticket prices are $8 for adults/$6 for kids in rows 21-31 and $16 for seats in rows 1-20. Tickets may be purchased at here or by calling 801-581-UTIX (8849).
