Utes to Host SLC Regional
No. 5-ranked Utah has earned the top seed at the 2016 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 6 p.m. MDT in the Huntsman Center. Other teams in the SLC Regional in order of seed: No. 8 UCLA, No. 17 Washington, No. 23 Southern Utah, Illinois and Utah State. Tickets are available

Open Practices on Friday
The practices on Friday, April 1 are open to the public and admission is free. Practice sessions follow:
1:15-3:00 p.m. Southern Utah, Illinois, Utah State
4:00-5:45 p.m. Utah, UCLA, Washington
Take Two
The top two teams from each of the six regions will be ticketed for the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, Apr. 15-16. The two teams advancing from the Salt Lake City Region will compete in the second semifinal of the NCAA Championships on Apr. 15, starting at 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT, against the qualifiers from the Iowa City and Tuscaloosa Regionals. Utah is attempting to qualify for a record 41st-consecutive national championship and for the first time with
Megan Marsden and
Tom Farden as the co-head coaches. Utah is the only school in the country to qualify for all 34 NCAA Championships to date.
Regional Snapshot
Utah last hosted a gymnastics regional in 2012 ... The Utes have won 11 of the 12 regionals held in the Huntsman Center, with a runner-up finish in 2010 to Florida ... Utah holds the attendance record for an NCAA regional, set in 1992 when a crowd of 8,469 turned out in the Huntsman Center ... Utah has won 28 regional titles (including 25 of 34 NCAA) and finished second the other 12 years. Last year, the Utes finished second at the Berkeley Regional and entered the NCAA Championships as the 12th and final seed. Utah went on to place a close second to Florida at the NCAA Championships.
Meet in a Minute
There will be one session of six teams at regionals. In addition to the competitive events, each team will have two byes ... For the fourth-straight year, Utah's first competitive event at regionals will be the uneven bars. The Utes will spend the first rotation on a bye (as they did in 2013 and 2014), followed by bars, beam, bye, floor, vault. For complete rotation orders, see page 1 ... In addition to the six teams qualifying into each regional, the top four seeds will have an at-large all-arounder rotating with them, while seeds five and six will rotate with an at-large specialist on each event. The all-arounder who will rotate with the Utes at regionals is Kalliah McCartney of Sacramento State.
Quick Sticks
Utah tied for first in the Pac-12 regular-season standings with UCLA--both with 5-1 conference marks. It was Utah's third-straight Pac-12 regular-season title. The Utes tied for second at the 2016 Pac-12 Championship after winning the title in 2014 and 2015 ... Utah has a 14-2-1 overall record and a 9-1 dual meet record ... Both of Utah's losses this season were to UCLA. The Utes lost at UCLA on Feb. 6 by .025 (197.100-197.075) and at the Pac-12 Championship (197.250-196.925) ... Utah gymnastics won the 2016 all-women's sports attendance title, averaging 14,928 fans a meet to beat South Carolina women's basketball. It was Utah's sixth all-sports women's attendance title (the Utes also won in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015) and its 32nd gymnastics national attendance title. Ute Honors
Breanna Hughes was named a four-time 2016 regular-season All-American by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W), winning first-team honors in the all-around and making the second team on vault, bars and floor.
Maddy Stover earned second team regular-season All-America honors on beam ... Utah claimed the majority of the 2016 Pac-12 individual awards, led by Freshman of the Year
Sabrina Schwab, Specialist of the Year
Kassandra Lopez and Scholar-Athlete of the Year Hughes. Utes won four of the five individual titles at the Pac-12 Championship, including double winner Hughes in the all-around and on vault.
Baely Rowe won beam and
Tiffani Lewis won floor at the championship ... Utah also had a league-high eight All-Pac-12 selections, including first-team picks Hughes, Lopez, Rowe,
Kailah Delaney and Stover. Making the second team were Schwab, Lewis and

Utah in the National Rankings
Utah finished the regular season ranked No. 5 in the nation with a 197.205 regional qualifying score (RQS).
Breanna Hughes is ranked No. 7 in the nation in the all-around (39.540 RQS), is tied for 12th on both vault (9.90) and floor (9.925), and tied for 15th on bars (9.910).
Maddy Stover is tied for No. 15 on beam,
Kassandra Lopez and
Baely Rowe are tied for 17th on bars (9.905), and
