SAN JOSE, Calif.—Incoming Utah freshman gymnast MyKayla Skinner competes today at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the sold-out SAP Center. It is the last stop in USA Gymnastics' "Countdown to Rio" before the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Â
The women's competition is held on July 8 and 10. NBC will broadcast both nights of competition live at 7:00 p.m. MT on July 8 and 6:30 p.m. MT on July 10. Live streaming will be available for those in the U.S. only on NBCOlympics.com (access through links in upper left).
Â
Both days of competition count equally, with the U.S. Olympic Women's Gymnastics Team and alternates announced following the conclusion of competition on July 10, subject to the approval of the United States Olympic Committee. Skinner is among 14 gymnasts vying for five positions and three alternate spots.
Â
In her most recent competition, Skinner placed second on vault, third on floor and 10th in the all-around at the 2016 P&G National Championships. Earlier this year, she won the all-around at the Glasgow World Cup.
Â
From Gilbert, Ariz., Skinner signed with the Utes in November 2014 but deferred enrolling in school for a year to pursue a berth in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. She is in her fourth year on the U.S. Women's Senior National Team.
