SAN FRANCISCO—Utah's
MyKayla Skinner has done it again, earning Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors for the second week in a row. Skinner, who won every event and the all-around in leading Utah to victory over BYU last Friday, has won nine of a possible 10 individual titles in her first two college meets.
Â
She becomes the first Ute gymnast to win back-to-back Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors. Only two previous Utes won Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week recognition in two-straight weeks (Tory Wilson in 2014 and Georgia Dabritz in 2015).
Â
Skinner's scores in the all-around (39.600) and on floor (9.95) against BYU are both tied for the third-best scores in the country this season.
Â
Skinner and the No. 5 Utes host a quadrangular meet featuring No. 7 Denver, No. 15 Boise State and Illinois-Chicago this Friday at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center.
