This Week in Utah Gymnastics
The preseason No. 6-ranked Utah gymnastics team (0-0, 0-0 Pac-12) opens its 2017 season on Saturday, Jan. 7, hosting No. 7 Michigan (0-0, 0-0 Big Ten) at 5 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. With the meet televised live on Pac-12 Mountain, fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 4:45 p.m. for team introductions. Utah has shattered its school season ticket record, selling season seats in the upper deck for the first time in school history. More than 8,600 season tickets have been sold, extending into row five of the upper bowl … The last time Utah hosted Michigan in the Huntsman Center on Mar. 6, 2015, the two teams competed before the largest crowd in NCAA gymnastics history (16,019) … The Utes were ranked sixth in the preseason coaches' poll—the only school in the preseason top six that did not make the Super Six last year. Utah, the 2015 NCAA runner-up, finished ninth a year ago at the NCAA Championships, after winning its regional. See page 3 for the complete preseason top 25 … In the Pac-12 Conference preseason coaches' poll, Utah was picked to finish a close second to UCLA, which is ranked No. 4 in the nation. Utah trailed the Bruins by two points (47-45) and two first-place votes (5-3) in the Pac-12 poll.

The Kid Zone will open at 3:30 p.m. and features a balloon artist, face painter, poster-making station and more … Saturday's meet is Alumni Night and Utah gymnastics alumni will be recognized on the floor following the meet … Season ticket holders may pick up their exclusive Red Rocks Beanie prior to the meet with the voucher included in their season ticket packet. Meredith Paulicivic. She has 18 years experience on the event as a club coach. Paulicivic handles the floor exercise choreography, as well, and is assisting co-head coach

Tom Farden takes over as the lead floor coach. He will continue to oversee bars.

Macey Roberts. Skinner, the 2016 Glasgow World Cup all-around champion and an alternate for the gold medal 2016 USA Olympic Team, placed fourth in the all-around at the Olympic Trials. Reinstadtler and Tessen are both Junior Olympic National champions.
