Utah Vault Notes:
Kari Lee gets great distance and had good form. Small hop on her landing.
Sabrina Schwab goes big on her 10.0-valued tuck Yerchenko 1 and 1/2. Looked like she had the
landing stuck cold before tucking in her right foot late. Nice vault!
Tiffani Lewis had good air, great lines, really small hop back on landing.
Kim Tessen had a huge vault with a 10.0 start value, but couldn't control her landing and ran out of it.
MyKayla Skinner's only deduction on her Yerchenko double was a step on the landing.
Utah Bar Notes:
Kim Tessen gets Utes off to great start. Came up a little short on one handstand.
MaKenna Merrell recovered nicely after coming too close to the bar on her release move.
MyKayla Skinner flew through that routine. Great handstands and movement. Stuck landing.
Tiffani Lewis was a little short on her last handstand, but went into some great giants before sticking
her dismount.
Sabrina Schwab was counted down for being a little short on two handstands on the high bar. Nice routine.
Baely Rowe was hit hard by one judge for a small form break on the high to low bar transition and a
slightly short last handstand. Nice dismount.
Â
Utah Beam Notes:
MaKenna Merrell led off with a really nice routine. No sign of nerves as the first gymnast up.
Possibly a step on the landing, which I couldn't see. Otherwise, super clean.
Obviously, I was more impressed with
Sabrina Schwab's routine than those doing the real judging. She
was so smooth, so light, super cool mount, etc. Jen says possibly her leap series was a little low.
MyKayla Skinner was so poised, even after a small bobble midway through. She nailed her double back dismount
as well.
Maddy Stover had a mostly walk-through routine. My expert witness Jen says her one bobble came after her ring
jump.
Personally, I liked
Kari Lee's routine for a 9.90. She had no obvious deductions and nailed her landing. Also, her red
hair was a nice touch!
Baely Rowe finishes the night strong. Only deduction was a slight balance check after her flight series. Stuck her
dismount.
Utah Floor Notes:
Baely Rowe had a great first pass, only to suffer a strange fall on her third pass.
Tiffani Lewis gets stronger as her routine goes on. Changes her final pose--flashing a U on the image of the Cougar
embossed on the floor mat.
Macey Roberts had a lot of pop and energy in that routine. Hit all her tumbling passes cleanly.
Awesome routine by
MaKenna Merrell. She killed her tumbling passes, dance was great.
Even my great spotter Jen White can't clue me in on the deductions.
Sabrina Schwab looks like she just floats on floor. Her routine was absolutely beautiful.
MyKayla Skinner not only performs the most difficult tumbling in the country, she makes it look so easy.
Unbelievable routine. Nailed her tumbling. Beautiful dance. Wow!
Final Score: Utah 196.900, BYU 194.125
