SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah will enshrine Jo Evans into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 20 at Rice-Eccles Stadium & Tower.
Evans will become the seventh Utah Softball player/coach to be inducted, joining Annette Ausseresses (1998), Charmelle Green (2001), Michele Townsend Graves (2004), Ali Andrus Sagas (2009), Norma Carr (2012) and Melonie Kent (2015)
Evans earned All-High Country Athletic Conference honors and led the Utes to the 1982 NCAA College World Series as a player. She returned to her alma mater as the head coach from 1990-96 and directed Utah to a 222-143 record along with a pair of College World Series appearances in 1991 and '94.
The Utes also won two Western Athletic Conference titles and Evans' 1994 team set the school record with 51 wins, placed fifth in the CWS and was ranked No. 7 in the country. She has been the head coach at Texas A&M since 1997, winning over 1,100 games. Evans was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association Hall of Fame in 2015.
Festivities will begin Thursday at 5 p.m. when there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Dumke Family Softball Stadium to commemorate the Jo Evans Locker Room.
