SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Softball has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2018 season. The Utes will play 50 games, 29 of which will be against teams that qualified for last season's NCAA Tournament.
Utah will take part in four tournaments and host 15 contests, including four Pac-12 series, at Dumke Family Softball Stadium. The Utes will play 16 games, five Pac-12 series and the annual contest with BYU, on the Pac-12 Networks.
"We are really looking forward to this season," head coach
Amy Hogue said. "We return a solid pitching corps and that toughness in the circle will be key to our success due to the face our schedule has us on the road for almost 30 games to start the season."
The Utes will begin the 2018 season at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. They will face No. 12 Tennessee, Georgia, Nebraska, New Mexico and St. Mary's
Utah will have a few days off before heading to Cathedral City, Calif., to participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, which runs Feb.17-19. It starts with Arkansas and Syracuse in a doubleheader and continues with Fordham, who Utah hosted in last year's NCAA Regional, Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount and UC Santa Barbara.
After a week off, the Utes open March with a visit to College Station and a pair of games against No. 8 Texas A&M, coached by Utah Athletics Hall of Famer Jo Evans. The tournament will also involve a contest against Conference USA champion Louisiana Tech and a pair of games vs. Texas State.
Finally, Utah heads across the country for a four-day event in College Park, MD. The Utes will play a pair against the host Terrapins and single games against Miami (Ohio), Jacksonville and Yale.
The four road trips for Utah in league play will begin with a series Mar. 16-18 at No. 9 Arizona on the Pac-12 Networks. The Utes also head to No. 4 Washington (Apr. 6-8, P12), California (Apr. 20-22) and No. 3 Oregon (May 4-6, P12).

The Utes will also play a doubleheader at Grand Canyon during Spring Break (Tues., Mar. 20), after the series at UA. Utah welcomes in-state foes Southern Utah and Weber State on consecutive days (Apr. 10-11) and then hosts the annual Deseret First Duel the following week (Apr. 18).
The NCAA Regionals will be held May 18-20 with the Super Regionals following them, May 24-27, and the last eight teams standing will advance to the College World Series, May 31-June 6 at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium at OGE Energy Field in Oklahoma City
"We have a lot of new talent and this schedule provides a fun challenge for us," Hogue added. "We graduated five starters and have some young players that are beginning to step up and assume bigger roles. I love our team's willingness to work hard and prepare for this season."
Utah Softball finished the season ranked No. 14 in the nation by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. This was the highest final ranking in program history since the NCAA began keeping records in 1995.
The Utes were 37-16, their best record since 1997, and also had their best mark in Pac-12 play (13-9) since joining the conference in 2012.
Utah reached the postseason for a 21st time and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in a third straight year, a program first. The Utes also advanced to a second-straight NCAA Super Regional and hosted a NCAA Regional for the first time.
