Ute Freshman Sets School Record with Fifth Award

SAN FRANCISCO—Utah freshman MyKayla Skinner has been named the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week for the fifth time this season after leading the No. 5 Utes past No. 4 UCLA 197.875-197.500 last Saturday. Skinner won the all-around with a score of 39.675 and also placed first on vault (9.925) and floor (9.95).

With her victories against UCLA, Skinner remains unbeaten this season in the all-around and on vault. She has 26 total wins out of 35 possible individual titles.

Her recent honor gives Skinner the Utah record for most Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week awards in a season with five. In her first collegiate season, she is just one shy of the school career record of six set Georgia Dabritz from 2012-15. Skinner has also been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week three times.

The Gilbert, Ariz., native is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in the all-around, and is tied for No. 4 on floor, No. 7 on vault, No. 10 on beam and No. 15 on bars.
