Utah Vault Notes: From where Jen White and I are sitting, Kari
Lee's vault looked like a beauty. I can't tell you where the deductions
were.
Baely Rowe had a big vault, great amplitude and distance, stuck
dismount. Guess the scoring is just tight.
MaKenna Merrell had a stumble on her landing and didn't
get great amplitude.
Tiffani Lewis got WAY up and out and almost couldn't handle
the landing, tilting back a bit. But she held it!
MyKayla Skinner another big, high vault with great distance.
Small hop on landing was the deduction.
In her first career routine to count,
Shannon McNatt
threw a 10.0 valued Yerchenko half on, front pike off (thanks Jen!).
She was pretty low, but managed to stay on her feet & the
team went nuts.
Utah Bar Notes:
MaKenna Merrell gets Utes off to good start. Good clean routine with stuck dismount.
Missy Reinstadtler also clean and swung well. Slight step on dismount.
MyKayla Skinner was almost perfect other than leg separation on low to
high bar transition.
Kari Lee got a 10.0 from one judge on that beautiful routine. Other judge was angled to see
slightly short final handstand. Great dismount!
Tiffani Lewis got a 10.0 from one judge, but again, the other judge
was angled to see a short handstand. Big swings and great stick.
Bealy Rowe had issues with two handstands.
Â
Utah Beam Notes:
Maddy Stover made a good strategic move on that routine. She
was uncertain about finishing one connection, so she just came back to it later
in the routine.
MaKenna Merrell had a flawless flight series. Her deductions came on a slight
wobble landing her front aerial and a small stpe on her dismount.
Missy Reinstadtler had good lines as usual, but wasn't quite as fluid
as she typically is. She had a hop on her landing.
MyKayla Skinner had a 10.0 going until she came ever so close,
but didn't quite perfectly stick the landing on her double back dismount.
What a night for MyKayla!
I'm a little baffled about the deductions on
Kari Lee's routine, which
I thought would score a 9.95 or at least a 9.9. Only deduction I saw
was a partial step on the dismount.
Beautfiul beam routine by
Baely Rowe. Great dismount to finish meet.
Utah Floor Notes:
Macey Roberts had a good overall routine. She lunged back out
of her first pass, but the rest of the routine was clean.
Missy Reinstadtler started her routine with a really pretty double pike.
Her deductions came when she stepped a little too far out of the scale
on her second pass and she stepped forward coming out of her
final pike double back.
Tiffani Lewis was all about power and poise on that beautiful
routine. Big double backs to open (pike) and close (tuck) and
good leaps in between.
MaKenna Merrell had issues getting enough air throughout that
routine and fell on her 2.5 punch front.
That was a killer routine by
Baely Rowe. I thought she would
get a 9.95 or even higher. She basically nailed all of her tumbling
passes beautifully and really sold the routine. At least to me!
MyKayla Skinner's "hometown" crowd went wild on that routine.
The only little mistake she had came on a very tiny step
coming out of her double double on the first pass.
