Montgomery, Ala.--Â University of Utah women's tennis fell to Tulane, 4-2, in the final round of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Saturday.
The Utes clinched the doubles point when Margo Pletcher and Brianna Turley defeated Naz Kargoz and Elena Muller, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot and Taylor Calton and Jena Cheng defeated Ivone Alvaro and Sade Atkinson, 7-6 in the No. 2 spot.
The Utes recorded another victory in singles competition when Cheng defeated Alvaro, 6-1, 6-0, but four Utes fell in hard-fought three-set battles to end the round.
The Utes will be back in action on Mar. 3 when they face BYU in Provo at noon. They will start Pac-12 Conference play on Mar. 10 at Arizona State and at Arizona on Mar. 11. The Utes return to the Eccles Tennis Center on Mar. 13 at 5 p.m. when they face North Carolina State.
