SAN FRANCISCO—Utah gymnast
MyKayla Skinner, already the record-holder for Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors in a season, added to her collection today when she was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
Â
It marks the sixth time the freshman phenom has won Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week this season—breaking the old record of four held by several gymnasts, including Utah's Georgia Dabritz. Skinner has also tied Dabritz's school record for most Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week awards in a career (6).
Â
By winning Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for a fourth time, Skinner has tied the school mark set by
Sabrina Schwab last season. The Pac-12 record for Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards is six.
Â
Her latest honors came after Skinner won four of five possible individual titles in Utah's 197.600-194.850 road win over Arizona State last Saturday. She remained unbeaten in the all-around and on vault and also placed first on beam and floor. Skinner, whose 39.750 was the best all-around score in the Pac-12 last week, scored a 9.95 on bars, beam and floor and received a 9.90 on vault.
Â
Skinner, who is ranked second in the nation in the all-around, has now won 30 of a possible 40 individual titles, including all eight all-around and vault competitions.
