Utah Vault Notes:
Baely Rowe nailed that vault really well.
Erika Muhaw stumbled badly on her landing.
Macey Roberts was a last-second replacement for
Shannon McNatt, who was scheduled to
compete to count for the first time. No worries. Macey killed it. Good distance, good landing.
We couldn't see
MaKenna Merrell's landing. I'm wondering if that's where her deductions came in.
Tiffani Lewis had a beautiful vault in the air, but a slight step back on her landing.
Amazing double full by
MyKayla Skinner. Tiniest slide back on her landing.
Utah Bar Notes: Utah had terrible problems all through warm ups with the bars.
Tom Farden and
Dakota Marsden have been yanking at the cables like crazy
trying to tighten them.
MaKenna Merrell had to do a wild balance check when she
was standing on the low bar preparing to go back up to the high bar.
Missy Reinstadlter bounced back with a nice, clean routine.
MyKayla Skinner hit her handstands and swung cleanly. The only deduction
I saw was a small hop back on her dismount.
Kari Lee bounced back from a rugged warm up, where she fell pretty hard,
to hit it when it counted. She was short on her first handstand and had a hop
on her dismount.
Tiffani Lewis had a huge release move and dismount, which she nailed.
She was short on her handstands was where her deductions came in.
Baely Rowe hit her routine, but wasn't her typical self on these bars.
Not her normal Bae swing.
Utah Beam Notes:
Maddy Stover doesn't let anything phase her. She missed a connection on her first series
and calmly made it up later. Just a little bobble out of her front aerial. Everything else clean.
MaKenna Merrell deserved every 10th of that 9.875 score. What a beautiful routine. I didn't
see a single wobble.
Granted I don't have the benefit of a replay, but that routine of
MyKayla Skinner's looked perfect
to me. She was simply amazing.
Kari Lee had a nice routine other than a big balance check on her side sumi (spelling?).
Baely Rowe did her job with a beautiful routine to keep Utah in it. Lots of pressure.
Utah Floor Notes:
Macey Roberts did her job as the leadoff with a fun, vibrant, clean routine.
Tiffani Lewis showed off her power with a big routine. Only deduction I saw
was a step forward coming out of her second pass.
MaKenna Merrell's only error also came on her second pass when she
over-rotated (according to my expert Jen White) and ran out of it. Tiffani
Lewis just told me that MaKenna improvised her last pass on the fly to pick up the
front tuck she missed on her first pass. Great thinking on her feet!
Missy Reinstadtler stepped out of bounds on her first tumbling pass, but
I didn't see the source for the huge deductions she finished with.
Baely Rowe's routine looked really clean to me. She seemed to catch
her toe on the mat a little on the corner after one pass, but that's about
all I saw.
MyKayla Skinner rocked the floor again. On her last pass--a full in (!), she
squatted just a little low.
