Teams are not seeded into the NCAA Championship, and in an unusual twist, the brackets were split along conference lines. The Pac-12 and SEC are both represented by four teams, with all of the Pac-12 teams in the afternoon session and the SEC qualifiers in the evening session. The Big 12 and Big 10 conferences both have two teams represented. Oklahoma and Denver (a Big 12 gymnastics affiliate member) are competing in the first semifinal and Michigan and Nebraska will square off in the second semi.
Â
The afternoon semifinal features a showdown between the two best all-arounders in the nation during the regular season in top-ranked Maggie Nichols of Oklahoma and second-ranked
MyKayla Skinner of Utah.
Â
A blind draw was conducted by the NCAA office to determine the rotation order for the semifinals. The Utes drew the Olympic rotation and their order of competition will be vault, bye, bars, beam, bye, floor.
Â
Utah is making a record 42nd-straight appearance at the national championships and is the only program to qualify for all 36 NCAA Championships.
